Simon Says Stamp and Show Some Distressing

A card for the Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge found here.  Let's build from the bottom up... folded dark blue card, standard size, 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".  The next layer is manila cardstock cut to 4 1/8" x 5 3/8", embossed using Tim's music folder, colored with Distress Stain wild honey, the high spots rubbed with Distress Ink (probably walnut stain but I can't remember for sure), edges distressed with Tim's distressing tool and then inked with black soot.  Next layer is mat board... I was sorting out some stuff and there was a piece of white matboard cut in a circle but the edge was messed up, I started to through it away and then thought... I could probably die cut something from this and proceeded to cut it with Tim's ornamental die... worked very well!!  So I thought - I wonder how well it will emboss and embossed it with Tim's gears folder using my Vagabond machine... worked awesome!!!  Colored over the whole front with Distress Stain faded jeans... to bring out the pattern more I rubbed Archival Ink jet black over it but then decided it needed more than that and used both silver and copper Paint Dabber lightly brushing it here and there on the gears and then went over them again with jet black which toned down the metallic without totally hiding... very cool!!!!  Then went around the edges with gold Paint Dabber.  The flower I made a couple of weeks ago and it was just perfect for this.  It is made with Tim's glassine paper, cut several flowers with Tim's Tattered Floral die, crumpled them well, went over them with Distress Stain, layered them together and stapled them in the center with Tim's tiny attacher.  I added the center when I made the card using 2 of Tim's gears and an old button complete with old thread already on it. The bird is cut from grungeboard, inked with Snow Cap Pigment Ink, dried, inked with Distress Ink wild honey on the bird and walnut stain on the legs and branch.  The "wing" is a Wendy Vecchi Studio 490 stamp, stamped on grungepaper, cut out, inked with wild honey.  Both the bird and wing are stamped with a Studio 490 background image.  Black pen to make the bird eye and an Ideology snap added on the wing.  The ticket is manila cardstock cut with Tim's ticket die, tore off one ticket, stamped it with the saying (Quietfire Design here) using Archival Ink jet black, inked around the edges with wild honey, stitching along the top and bottom with a fine tip black pen and an Ideology memo pin holding it up. Leaves (Tim's mini leaf die) are cut from manila cardstock, crumpled carefully, flattened back out, inked with Distress Stain peeled paint, dried, the edges inked with Distress Ink forest moss and I also gently folded the leaves down the center and added some forest moss there and opened them back up, this gave them some additional shading.

What a great combo, music and bird. So right for this time of year, when the birds finally start making music again. As always, I LOVE your style and artistry, love from tea
