Life is Good

Hello!!!!  I'm so glad you've popped by (or are reading this in an email).  This card was created for the March challenge on the FB group, Tim Holtz Addicts.  The challenge is Distress Crayon Smudge.

In this close up I was hoping to capture the sparkles from the tarnished brass crayon but metallics are so hard.

My background is created on Mixed Media Heavy Stock.  The paper was sprayed with water, then the 3 colors of Distress Oxide Spray and I sprayed quite liberally, then mostly dried along with adding water.  Some larger water blotches at the end and blotted before fully dry.

Over this I brushed a thin coat of Distress Collage Medium matte.  I went all in one direction and then lightly in the other direction at the end.  I tried not to work it too much but there are brush lines in the Oxide which really just gave another layer to the look.  I left this overnight to dry completely.  I didn't want any dampness to the paper at all.

The paper was then embossed with Tim's 3D texture fade - botanical.

Next comes the crayons.  I began with Tarnished Brass in areas, then Antiqued Bronze.  Ground Espresso was used around the edges and I also used some Picket Fence here and there.  It looks really fabulous in person but so very hard to catch in a picture.

The flower from Wildflower Stems #1 was cut from Watercolor Paper.  I added color using the Crayons and a waterbrush.  Details were added to the flower with Flower Shaping Tools.

Corrugate from Tim's Textured Surfaces sprayed with Mermaid Lagoon and the ridges highlighted with Antiqued Bronze Crayon.

Again I tried to catch the metallic in the picture.

A strip of the burlap from Textured Surfaces colored with Picked Raspberry Crayon.  I scribbled on some crayon and rubbed over it with my finger.

The card is put together as shown.  The tag and words are from Tim's Stamper's Anonymous set CMS155 Simple Sayings.  I used the stamp platform.  The tag was stamped first with black Archival Ink not getting a full coverage of ink on the stamp.  Next I stamped the tag with Distress Oxide Wilted Violet.  I love the variation of color, lights and darks. The words are stamped with black.  Around the edge is some Mustard Seed Crayon.

Hex Fasteners, an Index Clip, a Philosophy Tag, and Craft Thread finish things up.

I think the Breathe tag has Distress Paint in the recesses as it was already done but not used from an older project.  Anymore I always use the Crayons to add colors to the Idea-ology pieces.

Butterfly

Hello!!!  This butterfly card was a made a while back for a birthday.  I really love how it turned out!!!  The butterfly cutting die is from Elizabeth Craft Designs and is called Butterfly Aperture.  You can cut it as I did so the design is in a larger piece of paper or you can cut the design and also cut out the butterfly or you could just cut the butterfly outline.  I embossed the body of the butterfly with Ranger's Mixed Media Powder Hammered (two layers of the embossing powder) and popped it up with foam tape.  The paper you see through the butterfly, and I also left a border of it past the black, is from "the box" of miscellaneous backgrounds gathered from play over the years.  It looks so great for the butterfly!!!!  For the base of the card I cut Copper Metallic cardstock.
