Our Hearts Grow Tender

Here's another card using some of the new Quietfire Design stamps, the quote from the Our Hearts Grow Tender set and the large snowflake from the Illuminations 2 set.

For color I've used PaperArtsy's Fresco Finish paints, guacamole and sherbet.

For the main panel I put drops of paint on my craft sheet, sprayed on water, used my finger to work the water into the paint colors and swirl them just a bit and then dragged my paper through the paint.  The paper I'm using is Elizabeth Craft Designs soft finish cardstock.  I love the subtle texture of this cardstock and it works great with paint (or ink or other things).  I dried the paint and then stamped the snowflake with sherbet.  To do this I put some paint on my craft sheet, use my finger to spread it out and then stamp into the paint and onto my card.  I dried the snowflakes and before stamping the quote with Versafine ink I used an anti-static pad across the paper.  Once stamped I embossed with clear powder.  The edges are distressed with a Tim Holtz distress tool.  The next layer is white, then a painted layer (I just dabbed the paint around the edges of the piece), then a white layer stamping the snowflake with sherbet again, and finally the folded card has been paint with guacamole.  A piece of white lace and a gold snowflake finish it up.

I'd like to remind you about the Quietfire Sentiments of the Season Blog Hop and that there are prizes being offered on each blog.  Comments must be left by midnight Sunday, Nov. 29.  Get all the info on the Quietfire Creations Blog HERE.

I'm using stamps from the brand new Quietfire set - Flourished Ornament.  A gorgeous set that includes an ornament and 3 different flourished words that will fit inside.  The words can also be used without the ornament making this a set that works all year long.

The ornament is stamped onto white cardstock with embossing ink and embossed with Queen's Gold powder.  "Joy" was stamped with embossing ink and embossed with red geranium powder.  I used Distress Ink cracked pistachio along with water and a paint brush to add color to the inside of the ornament.  A gold brad and gold string create a hanger.

The red frame is an Elizabeth Craft Designs die - Fitted Frames 2, Lace Squares.  I cut it from soft finish cardstock backed with double sided adhesive,  inked it with Archival Ink red geranium, and adhered to the white cardstock leaving a border around the frame.

For the next layer I began with Ranger's glossy cardstock, stamped one of the snowflakes from the new Quietfire set - Let it Snow Snowman with Ranger's resist ink repeating until I had enough snowflakes.  Next I inked over the piece with cracked pistachio (no need to ink the center) adding enough ink to bring out the pattern of the snowflake.  I then flicked some water over the piece, blotted it and dried it.

I attached the main panel to the green panel with foam mounting tape, wrapped the hanger to the back and taped it down.  This was then attached to the 5 1/2" folded white card.

Finally I added the 2 dark green flourishes.  These are a die from the Elizabeth Craft Designs set - Flourishes & Branches.  I cut them from soft finish cardstock backed with double sided adhesive.  The backing paper was removed and silk microfine glitter - forest green - added to the adhesive rubbing it down well.  I attached the flourishes with glue leaving the ends loose.

A Merry Little Christmas -- New Stamps -- And a Hop

It was a happy mail day for me Friday as I received brand new just released stamps from Quietfire Design.  You can find all the new releases HERE and even better they are on sale for 25% off.  The sale price shows up when something is put in the shopping cart.  If you've been thinking about Suzanne's word dies, they are also on sale - 15% off.

I had to have a play with the new stamps and have this card to share so far.  All the stamps used for this card are from the same set - Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, set of 3.  I began with Ranger's watercolor paper stamping onto the smooth side.  I stamped the quote and the tree with Versafine black ink and embossed them with clear detail powder.  I made a rough mask for the tree and then stamped the dots (snowflakes) with embossing ink and clear embossed them.  I used Distress Ink tumbled glass, water and a paintbrush to paint around the tree and across the bottom. I used a Distress Marker (evergreen bough) to put a little green in the tree and a yellow Glaze pen to color the star.  For a bit of sparkle I used the clear Wink of Stella pen in the flourish of the tree and over the yellow star.  Finally I distressed the edges of the panel.  The next panel is white cardstock and I used the clear Wink of Stella around the edges wide enough for the border.  Everything is attached to a folded colored card.  I love how the embossing shines and the Wink of Stella sparkles as the card is moved!!!

I want to also give you a heads up on a Quietfire Design Blog Hop!!!  The posts begin tomorrow and you can get all of the information regarding the hop on the Quietfire Creation's Blog HERE.  There will be prizes!!!!

A Turtle Christmas

Our daughter is a turtle lover/collector.  When I saw the Majestic Sea Turtles stencil from Stencil Girl, I just had to get it so I could make a card for her.  At the time I hadn't thought a Christmas card but it worked great and she loves the card.  I used Ranger's texture paste through the stencil.  After it was dry I put the stencil back on and inked over it with various Distress Inks.  Around the edges of the panel I inked with Distress Ink festive berry, flicked it with water and then pressed over it with a damp towel which blotted up the extra water and also gave the red ink a bit of a mottled look, and dried it really well.  The holly stamp is a PaperArtsy Lin Brown stamp from the ELB10 set.  I inked the stamp with both Versamark and fern green Archival ink, stamped it and embossed with a glittery green powder.  I repeated this all around the edges.  Then where the berries were I used a white paint marker over each berry, let it dry, and then put red glitter glue over each berry.  "Merry Christmas" is a Quietfire Design stamp from the fabulous Merry Christmas Plain & Simple set.  The hat is an image from the Dina Wakley Scribbly Holiday Birdies set.  I stamped it on a scrap of white paper with Archival Ink red geranium, cut it out, colored the red part with festive berry Distress Marker and then used flower soft and sparkly Fluff for the white areas.

Smile Laugh Love

Another ATC!!  Again I've used paper from the Dyan Reaveley class to start with.  The square with a heart inside is a die cut (Elizabeth Craft Designs, Fitted Frames 4 - Curvy Squares).  I added color and glitter glue to the inside of the heart and dots and doodles with a Pitt pen.  Paint circles created with a lid surround the square.  Edges inked with black and dots added with a Glaze pen.  Words stickers are Idia-ology Chit Chats.

Purple Leaves

I'm sharing another atc I made last month (there are still a few more to go).  For this one I've again used a piece of paper from the Dyan Reaveley classes taken earlier this year.  Over that background I've stenciled a leafy stem (The Crafters Workshop, mini herbarium) using embossing paste mixed with purple paint.  After the paste was dry I lightly added some Treasure Gold using my finger.  Joy is another stencil (Wendy Vecchi).  I stenciled with white paint and then used a black pen.  Treasure moments are Idea-ology Chit Chat stickers.  Yellow paint on the stickers and around the edges.

Leaving White Space - Honor Christmas

Another card with white space!!  This card uses products from PaperArtsy.  I began with a piece of heavy smoothy paper and colors from the Sept 2015 Limited Edition paint set.  I put some Teresa green, Granny smith, and Captain Peacock on my craft... just a bit of each... sprayed on some water, used my palette knife to smoosh the paint some and then dipped my paper in it.  It looked wonderful!!  Next I stamped the leaves (more on that in a bit) with Professor Plum and somehow, without noticing, managed to get paint on the edge of my plastic and then onto my paper where I didn't want it.  I quickly took my damp rag and tried to rub it off (I knew that probably would not take it all off)... I rubbed a bit harder and made the color lighter but also caused the paper to fray.  Not to be put off I sprayed some water on my craft sheet, dabbed my finger in a bit of Professor plum, added water and tapped it onto my card trying to give a random look of color.  It didn't work too bad and although I'm not sure I really like the roughened paper, it doesn't look terrible either so I went on ahead with the card.  The leaf stamp was created with fun foam from the outline leaf stamp on Sara Naumann's set ESN17.  I talk about making that fun foam stamp in THIS post.  The quote is stamped with black Versafine ink and embossed with clear powder.  This panel is layered to a panel painted around the edges with Professor Plum and then to a folded white card.

Leaving White Space - Friends

Hello and Happy Saturday!!!  I hope you are having a good weekend.

White space...  Leaving white space on a card is hard for me.  I see things all the time allowing white/empty space and they are wonderful!!!!  I've decided to attempt some myself.  It's hard, I have to "make" myself not fill up the background.  LOL

For this card I've used glossy paper and alcohol inks. I put the inks on my craft sheet, added some blending solution and dipped my card.  Friends is a Suzanne Cannon, A Way With Words, Elizabeth Craft Designs die and I've cut it from Shimmer Sheetz backed with double sided adhesive.  The flower is also an Elizabeth Craft Designs die, #965 Victorian Flower Overlay Set 1, cut from soft finish cardstock. I've added a jeweled brad (Hobby Lobby) to the center of the flower attaching it right through the background. The folded card is white cardstock and I inked the front edges with Distress Ink picked raspberry before attaching the main panel.

The current challenge over on the Classy Cards 'n Such Blog is Mittens and/or Stockings which immediately made me think about the totally cute mitten stamps that Quietfire Design has and I just had to pull them out and make a card.  All the stamps I used are from Quietfire Design (the mittens, the holly frame, and the word joy).  The holly frame was stamped with embossing ink onto kraft cardstock, embossed with Ranger's weathered white embossing powder, and color added to the leaves with a glaze pen.  The mittens were stamped onto white cardstock with Archival red geranium ink, embossed with red geranium powder, and cut out.  Joy was stamped onto white cardstock with Archival fern green ink, embossed with fern green powder, cut as shown, and the edges inked with red geranium.  The red and white frames are die cut using the Elizabeth Craft Designs die set #1062 Fitted Frames 2 - Lace Squares.  I cut them from soft finish cardstock back with double sided adhesive and the one was then inked with red geranium ink.  Everything is assembled as shown popping up the mittens and word with foam mounting tape.  A piece of twine was used with the mittens.  I didn't have enough green gems to put over all the holes in the frame so colored some pearl ones with alcohol ink.  I started putting them on too soon and got a little ink by some of them.  I might go back and touch that up with white paint or I might just let it be.

Happy Friday!!!  Here is another ATC that I took to the swap last month.  Back in July (see THIS post) I took classes with Dyan Reaveley and the background on this atc started with one of the practice papers we did at class.  I cut up the sheet into atc sized pieces and because we worked on both sides of the paper I could pick and choose which side to use.  As you can see, I used the blue/purple side for this atc.  I stenciled the word unique (Wendy Vecchi stencil) with gold paste.  Once it was dry I stenciled the flowers (The Crafters Workshop) with white paint and added glitter glue to the centers.  I used both white and black pens by the word and also added some glitter glue along 2 edges.

God makes each one of us unique with a plan and a purpose for our uniqueness!!!
