PaperArtsy Roundup Day 5

Hello!!  It's hard to believe that this is the end of 2015 and tomorrow begins 2016.  It seems like just yesterday the big thing was switching from writing 1999 to 2000 and here we are 16 years later.  Wow!!!!

PaperArtsy is in the midst of doing a series of roundup posts from all the 2015 topics and the posts have been Fantastic.  If you haven't been following along, I really encourage you to go back and view them all. I'm today's curator recapping Topics 13, 14, and 15 which were Time, Flowers, and Gels & Mediums.  Part of the post is sharing a project that combines all 3 topics and I made the card I'm sharing today.

This is a standard size card and I've created it with a top fold.  Now, I did not mean to do that, but once it was done, I rather like it and just might be doing this more.  It makes it so much easier to stand up the card!!!  I used heavy smoothy for both the main panel and the folded card.  I spread a thin layer of grungepaste over the main panel not worrying if the paste was absolutely everywhere and it isn't.  I immediately stamped into the paste with images from the JOFY 36 set.  To do this, spray some water on the stamp, rub the water around with your finger and then stamp.  If the stamp picks up some paste, be sure and clean it all off before it dries.  After all my "texture" was stamped in, I left the paste to dry completely.  Once dry, I scribbled on some colors of Gelatos including gold, sprayed the panel with water and moved/blended the Gelatos with my finger.  Because of the gold, you can see some shimmer as you move the card in the light. This is dried with the heat tool.  Next I dry brushed Fresco Finish paint Snowflake over the whole panel to help bring out the textures.  While the white was out I stenciled some numbers (PaperArtsy stencil PS021) with it. Now some stamping on top with Archival Ink (watering can, tiger lily, and carnation red) using images from JOFY36 and the word today from JOFY34.  Finally I distressed the edges with a distressing tool.

The flower (JOFY36) was stamped onto smoothy card with Fresco Finish paint Slate, embossed with clear embossing powder, painted with Fresco Finish paint Yellow Submarine and London Bus, cut out, and some pen work added with a white gel pen.  The stem was stamped onto smoothy card with watering can ink, painted with Fresco Finish Limelight and cut out.  The stem was glued to the panel.  The flower was attached with foam mounting tape and the clock glued to the center.  The words (JOFY38) were stamped onto a scrap with Archival Ink jet black, cut out, glued on, shaded with an All Stabilo pencil activated with a water brush and some red paint added with a water brush.

Another journal page I was able to create over the weekend.  The background color was already on the page.  I'm sure it was left over color from some other project getting used up on a blank page.  I don't remember just what that color was or from what or when :-) Over this I used the large stencil from the StencilGirl December Stencil Club package.  I put gold embossing paste through the stencil and let it dry.  I really wasn't sure what to do next and started looking through a file of quote and chose the first one that said "use me".  Pitt Pens were used to write the quote and then I went back over Thomas Edison with a white gel pen since the back color was so dark.  I added doodling around the edges and then my Wink of Stella pen was laying there and I just picked it up and started going around the edges of the gold sections.  I love how it picks up the light.  I took a few pictures to hopefully somewhat catch that look for you.  Click on the pics to enlarge them.

Each and Every Day

Hey There!!!  I hope you had a good Christmas!! Since our daughter was able to be here, her and I got to spend a little time being arty, just playing.  I started this page and finished it up today.  The hubby got me a wonderful set of Neocolor IIs and I used them to add the color inside the circles (over some gesso) and on the edge.  The background color was done with Dylusions Paints.  There is also some Posca marker on there.  Before any paint I put gesso on the page using a palette knife getting thicker and thinner areas and while it was still wet added texture with a Catalyst Wedge.  Fun, Fun, Fun!!!!!  I first wrote the words with a black Posca marker and it would sometimes splatter a bit as I went over texture, which was fine!!!  I've also used a metallic gel pen, a white gel pen, and did some thickening with a bold Pitt Pen.

New A Way With Words Dies - A card using Happy Birthday!!!

Today is the day!!!!!!!!  You can see all the new A Way With Words dies being release at CHA over on the Quietfire Blog HERE!!!

Suzanne's beautiful calligraphy makes such gorgeous dies!!!  They are a pleasure to work with!!!

On this card I've used the new happy birthday.  It is cut from Shimmer Sheetz and also white soft finish cardstock, both backed with double sided adhesive.  These have been layered together so the white creates a highlight to the left.  The butterfly is a Not new Elizabeth Craft Designs die.  I've cut it from white soft finish cardstock and then used Distress Inks to give color to the detailed wings and the body piece.  For my background I've put Ranger's texture paste through a stencil (Tim Holtz flourish) and while the paste was still wet, sprayed the paper with Distress Spray Stains.  Once sprayed, I blotted off excess color from the paste with a towel making those areas lighter and also giving texture to the paste.  I then dried it with my heat tool not letting the paste get too hot.  It dried beautifully!!  The finished card measures 4 3/8" x 6 5/8".

Happy Birthday from Cork

For today's card I pulled out my Ranger Resist ink pad as it was feeling very neglected :-)  I inked through the Tim Holtz stencil blossoms with the resist ink onto glossy paper, removed the stencil, and then inked over the whole piece with Distress Inks (cracked pistachio, salty ocean, shaded lilac).  I just love how the pattern pops with resist techniques!!!  Finally I distressed the edges of the panel.  The next layer is white cardstock inked around the edges with Distress Ink picked raspberry.  Around these layers I've attached some lace.  On top of the lace I've added a butterfly cut from white cardstock, inked with Distress Ink, some Distress Glitter added to the wings and pearls to the body.  The A Way With Words Happy Birthday (Quietfire Design / Elizabeth Craft Designs) is die cut from Idea-ology surfaces cork.

Thinking of You

Happy Friday to you!!!!!!!  I hope you've had a good week and are looking forward to the weekend.

From the bottom up... folded white card, Idea-ology textured surfaces - burlap, red cardstock torn top and bottom, and then my main background.  For this panel I stenciled (Tim Holtz stencil - flourishes) transparent texture paste onto white cardstock, removed the stencil, sprayed the piece with Distress Spray Stains and left it to dry.  Once dry I used Distress paint on the paste, dried it, and tore the panel top and bottom.  I cut the A Way With Words die cuts (Quietfire Design or Elizabeth Craft Designs) from green velvet adhesive.  The leaf is die cut from paper and colored with Distress Spray Stain and inks.  Some brown twine is wrapped around all the layers before being attached to the folded card.

Get Well Soon

Good Day!!!!  Today's card begins with a background left from playing with shaving cream and Dylusions Ink Sprays.  I've stenciled over that, stamped along the bottom, and inked the edges.  The sticky back gems are all one sticker.  Get Well Soon is an A Way With Words set of dies (available from Quietfire Design or from Elizabeth Craft Designs).  I've cut the words from another shaving cream background and also from dark green cardstock, both back with double sided adhesive and layered them as shown.

More ATCs

Hi There!!!!!!  So I've decided to lump the last of the ATCs I made back in October for that in-person swap all into one post before it's not even the same year anymore :-)  I'm not going to go into detail on these so if you have questions on any of them, don't hesitate to ask.

PaperArtsy stamps used on this one.

More PaperArtsy stamps.

Quietfire Design stamps on this.

Again, PaperArtsy stamps for this one.

Good Friday to you!!!  I'm looking forward to the weekend and I hope you are too!!

For this card the leaves and flowers are cut with dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs.  The scripture is a stamp from Our Daily Bread Designs.  I've also used texture paste, Distress Spray Stains, Treasure Gold, Distress Ink, splatters of paint, dots of paint with Glossy Accents on top of them.  sticky back gems, punched butterflies, brads, and probably a few things I'm forgetting about.  I created this card for our daughter-in-laws birthday last month.  Her current favorite colors are red, blue, and purple.  A combination of colors that was a bit challenging for me but I like the outcome.

Thinking of You!!!

Hello!!!  I hope your week is going well!!  It's very wet her southern Iowa.  I'm thankful it hasn't been cold enough to snow because we've had a lot of rain in the past couple of week and a little ice too.

The background of this card uses Dylusions paint and a Tim Holtz stencil.  Three colors of paint each sponged onto three areas of the background and then I used one stencil but worked through all three colors of paint again putting each one in three spots.  The white flowers are embossing paste through a Tim Holtz stencil.

Thinking of You is an A Way With Words die set available from either Quietfire Design or Elizabeth Craft Designs.  I've cut it from both cardstock and an Idea-ology silver deco sheet.  I put double sided adhesive sheet on the back of the cardstock.  The deco sheet already has adhesive on the back. I offset the die cuts as shown and stuck them to the card.

The panel is edged with Distress Paint brushed pewter and then attached to a folded white card.
