Grungy Monday

Last week Monday was the first Grungy Monday Challenge!!!  A new challenge started by Linda of Studio L3 since the Compendium of Curiosities challenge was finished.  I did not, however, get my entry for Grungy Monday #1 done is time so this post includes both my #1 and #2.

This first card is for Grungy Monday #1 - challenge details here.  Our challenge was to be inspired by Tim Holtz's 2008 12 Tags of Christmas Day 10 found here.  My card measures 4 1/4" x 6 1/2".  For my background I masked with Tim's gear masks, sprayed with color wash and heirloom gold Perfect Pearls, removed the masks and inked with Distress Ink.  The quote is a Quietfire Design stamp stamped and embossed in black.  The birds (Tim's movers and shapers mini die) are cut from grungeboard.  Stamped and embossed the flourish (Quietfire Design) in black and painted over them with Perfect Pearls sour apple and blue raspberry.  The man is a Studio 490 image from the Seriously Art Set.  The ribbon is seam binding sprayed with Color Wash.  Tim's newsprint Alpha Parts to spell dream.

This next one is for Grungy Monday #2 - info here - and it is an ATC.  For this challenge our inspiration came from a Video on the Ranger site found here.  I made a foam stamp from Tim's on-the-edge scrollwork die.  I started with an atc blank cut from Tim's Crowded Attic paper stack.  Stamped the scrollwork along the edge with matte medium, dried it, inked the atc with a few Distress Inks, and stamped the scrollwork again - just not as wide this time - along the left with Archival Ink plum.  Across the top the leaves are stamped with Archival Ink olive and along the bottom the saying is stamped with Archival Ink jet black.  The leaves, saying and face are from Wendy Vecchi's Studio 490 set It's Face Art. The face is stamped on Ranger's manila cardstock with jet black, cut out and colored with Distress Inks.  The wings are Wendy's small butterfly (Make Mine Mini Art set) stamped on Clearly For Art Blackout, cut out, cut in half and attached behind the face.

Another view of each project.

Wanda, both your Grungy Monday pieces are FABULOUS! You re-interpreted Tim's "12 Tags" technique perfectly for GM01, and I LOVE that it looks like the little birds are conversing with the gentleman. Clever and sweet!

Your GM02 art is equally wonderful. I love the Wendy stamps, and the resist background is subtle and perfect. Great colors, too, and that sentiment is one of my favorites ever.

You are incredibly talented.
