Honored and Blessed - RubberStampMadness

It is a total thrill for me to have an Artist's Profile article in the Spring 2017 issue of RubberStampMadness that includes 5 projects and, of course, stuff about me.  Melanie King wrote a wonderful article and, in the magazine, all the pictures are sharp and clear.  Even in my light tent I kept getting a glare and haze while trying to take pictures.  Many thanks to Rubberta and RubberStampMadness for this opportunity!!  I am honored and blessed!!!!!!!!!!!!

The card above with PaperArtsy stamp credits.  All images by Designer, Jo (JoFY).

For the tag below all the Stamper's Anonymous images are by Designer Wendy Vecchi.

I also have a card (below) in their Happy Valentine's Day Album.  All stamp credits (and they are listed in the article) are Quietfire Design.

Spread Your Wings

Hello to you on this beautiful Sunday!!!  The current challenge at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is Spread Your Wings and this is my entry.  This is the second challenge this year my daughter, Krista (her blog is Papilio's Rainbow) and I have chosen to do.  We both ran out of time last week!!!

Onto Mixed Media Heavy Card I stenciled Texture Paste through Wendy's Polka Dotty Stencil.  Once that was dry I sprayed the piece with water and sprinkled on PaperArtsy Infusions (Are You Cerise, A Bit Jaded, and Blackcurrant) adding more water in areas that I thought needed it and let it sit to dry blotting some of the really dark areas before they got completely dry.  Next I added Fresco Finish Paint White Fire to the high spots using a mini brayer and dabbed some around the edges using my finger.  I die cut the flourish area using a die from the Sizzix Tim Holtz Alterations Mixed Media #2 die set and layered this piece to white cardstock and then to a folded black card.  The quote is from Wendy's stamp set, Exceptional Art SCS142, and the butterfly is from her set, Artful Thoughts SCS145.  The quote was stamped with Archival Ink Jet Black, torn out and layered to black card.  For the butterfly I colored a scrap of white cardstock with Golden Sands Infusions (see picture at bottom of post), dried it, stamped the butterfly, cut it out, and then added some variety with Distress Marker Picked Raspberry and a white pen.  Finally I used a black pen to circle around some of the dots.

Beautiful Moments

Hi There!!!  I hope this Wednesday finds you well!!!  Here is another sample I did for the release of the new A Way With Words dies designed by Suzanne Cannon of Quietfire Design and signature designer for Elizabeth Craft Designs

I've combined Beautiful, from the Amazing Beautiful set, and Moments, from the Special Moments set, for this layout.  I started with 100# White Soft Finish Cardstock (ECD), sprayed on some Distress Spray Stain (Antique Linene, Tea Dye, Spun Sugar), and stenciled (ECD Stage It Stencil - Flower) with Distress Ink (Tea Dye, Spun Sugar).  The picture is from the Idea-ology Found Relatives - Occassions set (Tim Holtz) and some color was added to some of the outfits with Distress Markers.  I've layered it over a couple dies cuts - ECD Beaded Oval Frames (cut from ECD Rust Soft Finish Cardstock) and ECD Leafy Branch (cut from ECD Caledon Green Soft Finish Cardstock) - and ECD Peel Off Stickers - Lace Fan 1 in black.  I added Silver/Gold Glitter Dots stickers to the Beaded Oval Frame die cut.  Beautiful Moments is cut from borth Rust and Perfect Pink Soft Finish Cardstock, layered and attached.  The butterfly (ECD Small Butterfly) is cut from Caledon Green and Perfect Pink.  The main panel is layered to Perfect Pink and then Rich Black Soft Finish Cardstock.

I Love You

Happy Thursday!!!  I've always liked Valentine's Day and hearts are a favorite.  The heart from the die set Calligraphic Elements 1 is wonderful!!!  I love you is from the I Don't Tell You Often Enough set of 5 of stamps.

For the background I started with Distress Paint (Worn Lipstick, Picked Raspberry).  I put some paint on my craft sheet and then used a mini brayer to put it on Distress Mixed Media Heavy Weight Card.  Next I used Tim Holtz's Hearts Stencil applying Rock Candy Crackle Paint through the stencil with a palette knife.  I left that to air dry.  Once it was dry I inked over the piece with Distress Ink Vintage Photo and used a damp cloth to clean the ink off the top of the hearts.  Distress Paint Tarnished Brass was splattered over the panel and then used on the edges.

The next layer is plain old copy paper stamped with an old text image and then crumpled, a lot.  The folded card is Kraft, splattered with Tarnished Brass and some dots added to the corners with a black pen.

I cut Tim Holtz's Doily (Sizzix) from copy paper and then from copy paper that was inked with Distress Ink Antique Linen.  I accordion folded the doilies and scrunched the centers to give them dimension.  The tinted one is scrunched more to make is smaller than the white one.

When I was creating the background, I wiped a scrap of paper through the excess paint, dried it, gold embossed (Ranger's Queens Gold) the script over it and die cut the heart from it.  I also die cut a brown heart, layered them together and used Gl. Clear Wink of Stella on the exposed edges of brown.  Just on the very edge, not covering the brown.  It make a love shimmer that catches the light as the card moves.  I love you was stamped with Archival Ink Jet Black (Ranger) on a scrap of copy paper, tore out, inked a wrinkled a bit around the edges.  After gluing the die cut heart to the doilies I added a Mirrored Heart (Tim Holtz Idea-ology) to the center.

Enjoy your Thursday!!  Hugs, Wanda

Beautiful Squared

Hi Again!!!  I know, twice in one day, how can that be?!?!?  LOL  I was inspired to make another card for the Be Square challenge over on Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge.

  • Cut a 5" square piece of Distress Mixed Media Heavy Stock.
  • Ink a 3" acrylic block with Distress Ink Salty Ocean and Evergreen Bough, spray with water and stamp onto paper pressing down really well to blend the colors.

  • Ink Evergreen Bough through the Tim Holtz stencil.

  • Stamp Wildflowers with Embossing Ink.  Emboss with Sticky Powder
  • Add foil.

  • Ink edges of panel with Salty Ocean.
  • Doodle around 3" square.
  • Splatter with Distress Paint Black Soot thinned with water.
  • Add shadows to some stenciled squares with a Stabilo-All pencil and paper stump.
  • Cut "Beautiful", a new A Way With Words cutting die, from both blue and cream papers.  Layer together and attach to panel.
  • Add Gl. Clear Wink of Stella to edge of panel, around 3" square and along bottom of word.
  • Attach panel to folded cream card.

Be Square - In the Moment

Hi!!!  Our daughter and I have decided that we are going to try to enter some challenges this year.  This week we've chosen to enter the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Be Square.

I began my card with a 5" square piece of Mixed Media Heavy Stock.  I put Grit-Paste through The Crafters Workshop Mini Retro Squares stencil covering most of my paper but leaving some areas without paste.  After allowing it to completely dry I sprinkled on PaperArtsy's Infusions (Golden Sands and The Sage) and then sprayed with water.  I did some tipping and used my finger in some spots near the bottom to help move things, sprinkled in a little Emerald Isle to get some brighter green and started drying it again tipping to let some areas run and I also did just a bit of blotting in a couple of really dark spots.

Next I added some stamping with Wendy Vecchi's Fern Green ink and a stamp from the PaperArtsy Lin Brown (ELB29) set.

For the focal point I tore a scrap piece of Mixed Media Cardstock into a square about 2 1/8", used Infusions (Golden Sands and Lemoncello) along with plenty of water on the square, blotted up much of the liquid and dried it.  I then stamped the leaf image with Embossing Ink and embossed with Sticky Powder.  Next I added green foil to the image.  Yes, I'm currently in love with using foil!!!!

I cut a piece of green corrugate to go behind the leaf panel adding some metallic highlights with Treasure Gold (Florentine).  I also put some treasure gold on some of the paste squares and around the edges of the background panel.  This are layered as shown onto a piece of cream cardstock, edges distressed, and then a folded green card.  A Tim Holtz Idea-ology word band is tied on with some Paper String.  Oh, I also used  a white Stabilo-All pencil and paper stump to give a highlight to some of the paste squares.

I really like how this came out!!!!  I hope you do to!!

Hugs, Wanda

New A Way With Words - Hugs

I love how this card came out!!!!  I started with a piece of Through The Lens - Stone paper, added Dylusions paint (Lemon Zest, Fresh Lime, Calypso Teal) with a mini brayer, dried it and then splattered Distress Paint Antique Linen.  I stenciled the grass along the bottom (ECD Susan's Garden Earth & Sky) first with green ink and then with Paint (Distress - Picked Raspberry).  The Mushrooms Die set  (ECD Joset Designs) was cut from Mixed Media Cardstock (Ranger) and color added with Distress Inks (Antique Linen, Mowed Lawn, Picked Raspberry).  The dots sprinkled about the card are the circles from the mushrooms also colored with Picked Raspberry.  The new Hugs (QF site; ECD site) was also cut from Mixed Media Cardstock and the center area inked with Picked Raspberry.  The finished size of the card is 6 5/8" x 4 5/8".

Have a great day!!!
Hugs, Wanda

Today is the Day - A Way With Words & A Way With Stencils

The new release of A Way With Words dies and now A Way With Stencils also is here.  Suzanne has a created a video showing off all the new product along with wonderful samples created by the Quietfire Design Team.

You can also see them all in the What's New category on the Quietfire Design website and in the Coming Soon category on the Elizabeth Craft Designs website.

I have 3 samples in the video and will be showing them here over the next few days.  This first one uses the new Prayers cutting die.  Isn't it gorgeous!!!  When I first made the card I used a light colored folded base and inked it with green but in person it just didn't look quite right to me and after a couple of days I trimmed it off and put it on a grey base (the first picture in this post).  I'm also showing you the pictures I took of the first one as I took more of them.

The grey paper is ECD's Soft Finish cardstock in Pewter.  For the "frame" I cut the oval from the panel using ECD's Dotted Scallop Ovals and then embossed the right side of the paper with ECD's Curvy Leaves.  Prayers is also cut from the Pewter cardstock.  The piece behind the frame is a piece of Mixed Media Cardstock (Ranger) inked with Distress Ink Worn Lipstick by putting the ink on a craft sheet, spraying some water and pressing the paper into it.  Over the inked layer I used the ECD Swirly Flourish stencil to apply Transparent Texture Paste (Ranger) and then while the paste was still wet added ECD's Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter.  Let it dry and then burnished the glitter with my finger to remove any excess and really make it shine.  The flowers are from ECD's Bunch of Flowers 4 die set.  They are cut from White Soft Finish cardstock, inked with Worn Lipstick, shaped with Susan's Garden tools, stacked and a small brad added to the center.  The leaves are ECD's Leafy Branch colored with Distress Spray Stain Mowed Lawn and Twisted Citron.

I'll be sharing another sample tomorrow.  See ya then!!!  Have a Blessed Day!!

Hugs, Wanda

Circle Journal #8

Hi There!!!!  Today I'm sharing the 8th book (that I'm creating in) in this Circle Journal swap.  This book belongs to Claire and, as you can see, is house shaped.  Also, don't be too surprised, I even took some process photos making it easy to remember just what I did as I did this back in October.

Painting and then stenciling.

Adding some crackling to the edges.

Stamping with paint.

More stamping with paint.

I used a stencil to draw the heart with a charcoal pencil.  Added color with the Marker and used my finger before it dried to "pull" the color.  The metal pieces are aged with the Chalk paint.

Stamping with Archival Ink and coloring with Distress Markers.

A couple closer pictures.  Doodling at the top with both black and white pens.

Remember you can click on a picture to get it to show up larger.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!!!!!!  Hugs, Wanda!!
