RubberStampMadness Magazine - Fall 2016

My issue of this magazine arrived in my mailbox yesterday and I'm thrilled to have 4 pieces included in a wonderful article titled "50 Fabulous Tips" by Christina Hecht.  There is lots of good information in the article and I've added an item to my shopping list that I must get and try on die cuts.

Bible Journaling - Be Brave

Hi!!  Thanks for checking in on this wonderful Wednesday.  I'm sharing a Bible journaling page I did a few months ago.  A reminder to stand firm and not be swayed by people, to be brave for Christ.  I kept the journaling very simple and only used about half the page allowing something else to possibly be added later.  I have swipes of paint (Dylusions) in the background and a little stenciling with a flower stencil.  "Brave" is a Christine Adolph adhesive rub-on with blue foil adhered to the top.  "Be" was written with a white paint pen and then outlined with a black pen.  "for Christ" was written with a black pen.  "Teach my heart to" is part of an Idea-ology chit chat sticker.

Circle Journal #4

Hello!!!!  Today I'm sharing my 4th Circle Journal post.  This is the journal I worked on in June and it belongs to Jo.  It's a very cool idea and I loved creating for it.  We were told to make a masterboard, cut 4 atc blanks, finish one to be placed on the outside of a pocket (the whole journal is pocket pages that she made) and put the other 3 blanks in the pocket.  Fun!!!!!!!!  I guess I was picture happy while working and took step-outs while creating the masterboard.

I used Fresco Finish Paints onto a piece of Heavy Smoothy Cardstock.  I began with Bubble Gun, Tango, and Banana.  I put the colors on my craft sheet, sprayed them with water, used my finger to work the water into each color of paint and then pressed my paper into it all, lifted and repeated pressing until the whole sheet was full being careful not to over-mix the colors.

The next layer is stenciling with a mix of Cheesecake and Banana.

The leaves are stenciled with a mix of Granny Smith and Hyde Park.

Once dry I stenciled the leaves again with a mix of Cheesecake and Limelight to give shading/highlights to the leaves.

Next is lots of splattering with Snowflake and Little Black Dress.

A DIY stamp using the black rings that you remove from Wink of Stella pens to start using them.  They are glued onto a piece of corrugated plastic.  I stamped them with Snowflake.

And finally stamping the script image with White Fire.

Here's a pic of the sheet taken in the light tent.

And here it is cut up and the extra pieces.

To finish the atc I used used tinted embossing paste through a stencil, leafy die cuts, Idea-ology photo booth pic in a frame, hearts colored with alcohol ink, chit chat stickers, twine and a ladybug dimensional sticker.

This picture shows the front of the pocket.  I used washi tape along the top and bottom of where I put the atc, added white dots to that washi tape and included more leaves tucked behind the atc.

I didn't want to leave the back of the pocket without any decoration.  I used scraps from my scrap box stamping a quote on one of them and also used more chit chat stickers.

I took the picture but I just kept thinking it wasn't really done and finally decided to add a wood leaf.  I used ink and embossing powder on the top of the leaf.

A Sympathy Card

I needed a sympathy card this past weekend when I went to a memorial service.  It was a really nice memorial service and such a blessing as the family members talked about their loved one that had passed away.

This background uses a Sizzix embossing folder along with a Tim Holtz diffuser.  I stamped the scripture (from Our Daily Bread Designs), put the paper in the folder, lined up the diffuser plate with the circle in it and ran it through my vagabond.  The leafy branch is from Elizabeth Craft Designs.  I colored a paper with Distress Inks (twisted citron, cracked pistachio, mowed lawn) and then cut the branch.  The butterfly is a Tim Holtz stamp.  I inked a paper with Distress Ink (cracked pistachio, salty ocean), stamped the butterfly with jet black Archival, and then cut it out.  With ink left on an ink blending tool I added little areas of green lightly to the embossing in the background.  The butterfly was attached just in the body area so the wings could be dimensional.

Summer Tag - Creative Chemistry Summer 2016 - Layering Stencils

Hi There!!!  I hope this finds you well!!!  I've been having a great time following along with the Summer of Creative Chemistry at Online Card Classes.  We are working through Creative Chemistry 102 at the moment and are focused on Day 2 of that class, Layering Stencils!!!  Who doesn't love stencils!!!  Well, I'm sure there are people out there that don't but I'm not one of them :-))  The Week 6 challenge for Summer of Creative Chemistry is to create something using two stencil techniques together.  I must admit that I've used more than two on this tag.  I've got some Mixed-Media Layering going on plus I've used the Paint Monoprint Technique, Embossing through Stencils, and the Stencil Stamping Technique.  It is so much fun to work all these different ideas together!!!  For my supplies I've used Distress Paint (picked raspberry, squeezed lemonade, cracked pistachio), Distress Stain (twisted citron), Distress Ink (picked raspberry, cracked pistachio, ripe persimmon, salty ocean), Embossing Ink, White Embossing Powder, Archival Ink (cactus flower), Mini Layering Stencils (numbers 006, 009, 019), Layering Stencil (Wildflowers), Idea-ology token (white added with Distress Crayon), gold thread, and "Summer" is cut with an ECD A Way With Words die from white cardstock.

Wood Panel

Hello and Happy Sunday!!!  What a joy to have you visiting!!!  I'm sharing a canvas (I guess that would be wood panel as there is no actual canvas) I made for a sweet girl that graduated from High School this Spring.  I didn't write down exactly what I used so I'll just give an overview.  The base is a 5" square wood panel, a deep one so it can stand on it's own.  I think I gessoed it first, then paste through a stencil on the top, dried, and then I used Distress Paints, spraying with some water to help blend, over the top.  I painted the sides, dried it and then lightly brushed some white over it.  There is some Treasure Gold lightly rubbed over the top for highlights.  The flowers are all die cut (Tim Holtz dies) from white card and glued on.  The scripture is an Our Daily Bread Designs stamp.  The butterflies are a punch.

Bible Journaling - My God is Able

No matter what "fire" we may need to travel through, God is Able!!!  He is able to stop the fire or take us through it, refined and better because of it!!!  I will not waver from God!!  I will stand true for he is the ultimate truth!!

I've used a The Crafter's Workshop stencil and acrylic paint to create the fire on the page.  The other color is Distress Ink.  A couple of little, letter, tag stickers, my writing, and some washi tape.

Thinking Of You Card - PaperArtsy - Infusions

Happy Tuesday to you!!!  If your in the US, I hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend!!!  We worked on the house and I fit in some play time.

This card started with PaperArtsy's Infusions.  I sprayed a piece of Heavy Smoothy Card (PaperArtsy) with water, sprinkled on two colors of Infusions, Lemoncello and Are You Cerise, and then ran a small brayer over the paper a few times going both horizontal and vertical, and then dried it.  Over this I stamped a Kay Carley (PaperArtsy) flower and some grass/weeks with Archival Ink Jet Black and painted them in with Fresco Finish Chalk Paints.  Besides what is showing in the picture, I also used a little Bougainvillea in the center of the flower.

The words, also Kay Carley, are stamped with Jet Black and then I used a ruler and a Copic pen to put the lines under.  Details added to the flower with a gel pen and shading with both a Stabilo pencil and Pumice Stone Distress Marker.  I used a stencil (PaperArtsy) and Snowflake Fresco Finish paint to add the stars in the background.  The paper flower are dry brushed with Banana paint.  The edges of the panel are distress and some white lace/ribbon wrapped as shown, stapled on with the tiny attacher.

Autumn Card - Creative Chemistry Summer 2016 - Distress Paint

Hi There!!!  It's a wet day in Southern Iowa but that is good as we really needed the rain. ...  Ok, yesterday was a wet day.  I started this post then but didn't get it finished.  Today is cloudy and cool.  It's not often you need a jacket on 4th of July holiday weekend.

Over at Online Card Classes  Week 5 of the Summer of Creative Chemistry is in progress.  This would be the first week of Creative Chemistry 102 within the summer format.  Wonderful information and techniques all using Distress Paint.  I've played with 4 of the 6 techniques covered in this lesson and combined each of those plays into this card.  If you'd like to see some individual technique pictures you can find them on my Instagram page as I snapped some pictures with my phone as I worked but didn't also take them with my camera.  I could unload my phone and edit all those pictures but I'm choosing not to take that time.

The background of this card uses the Eroded Metallics technique and then I've stamped over that using Distress Paint and the new Crackle Background image from Quietfire Design.  The piece the quote is stamped on is colored using the Distress Paint Marbeling technique with the colors, tumbled glass, broken china, and bundled sage.  The quote is a new one from Quietfire Design.  I stamped it with Archival Ink Jet Black and then added color to the leaf with Distress Markers.  It's die cut using the Elizabeth Craft Designs' Stitched Circles and then Black Soot Distress Paint dabbed around the edge.  The large leaf is cut from Grungeboard using the Tim Holtz Tattered Leaves die and then I've done the Colored Crackle technique.  After finishing the technique I sprayed on some Distress Mica Spray Antique Bronze blotting some back off so it wasn't too shimmery.  I love how it catches the light as the card is moved!!  The top leaf on the right is a metal leaf from my stash and I used the Distress Paint Altered Surfaces technique on it.  The other leaf is a wooded leaf that I painted with Distress Paint carved pumpkin, dried, inked with Distress Ink Ripe Persimmon and then embossed with Distress Embossing Powders Fired Brick & Spiced Marmalade.  There is some cheesecloth that was sprayed a bit with Distress Mica Spray before wrapping on the background.  Some colored twine and Dew Drops finish it up.

The picture below allows you see the light off the Mica Spray on the leaf.

Bible Journaling - Psalm 105:5

I have a few Bible journaling pages I haven't shared yet.  This is one of them.  A reminder to remember God's marvelous works, wonders, and judgements. God is ALWAYS faithful!!!  He sees it all, knows what's best and we can trust Him completely!!!
I've used Distress Inks, Black Embossing Paste, Stencils, Adhesive Rub-Ons and Foil, Washi Tape, a Sticker, Stamping, and wrote a few things myself.
