Fun With Stencils / Give Away

I've been having some fun trying something different (for me anyway) with stencils lately!! I thought it might be fun to see if anyone could figure out just what I did and what I used (supply/supplies). So I've decided to give a prize to someone who could guess. What you need to do is leave me a comment telling me what you think I did/used, which one of these projects is your favorite, and your email address so I can let you know if you win. I'll draw one name from those who guess right and send them a package. I don't have the package all put together yet but will post a pic when I do. I'll make the drawing on Tuesday, March 11th. I got the stencils I used from Quietfire Design. The first and third projects are atcs. The 2nd one is a 5 1/2" x 6" card .

Love the middle one (tree). I think that you may have used bleach through the stencil on to the background. Alternatively you have used a clear embossing resist. My details can be found via my hardly used blog.

It is really hard to tell in the pictures. Would love to see it in real life. I'm going to guess that you embossed the design with clear embossing powder or else used a gel medium, then added color over the top. Probably some kind of a dye ink or something since you can see through the colors in the green one to what's underneath. That's my best guess without seeing it in real life.

It is really hard to see, but I am going to guess that you used an embossing paste.....with stencils..... The bottom one looks like a resist ink and maybe color washed or watercolored.....Beautiful cards Wanda!

Wanda, these are lovely, I love the tree!!!

I'm guessing, because it's really difficult to see any dimension, that you used gesso through the stencil as a resist for colour washes or inks.

Looks like a ton of fun no matter what you used!

These cards are beautiful, Wanda. I especially love the tree card. I'd guess you used bleach through the stencil for that one.

Wanda, I first thought of bleach, then decided that the background was added to the stencil design. So I'm going with a resist through the stencil and then direct to paper with Distress Inks.

I look forward to learning just what you did!

hmmm.... These are gorgeous pieces!!! It looks to me like you've used polished stone technique, so I'm going to guess that you used blender solution with your stencil to 'lift' the color. Can't wait to hear about the technique, because I sure like the results!!!

Wow, I'm not sure how you did the tree one, but I love it! It looks like walnut ink over an embossed resist?

I don't care HOW you did them; they all look fabulous. I'm thinking that you heat embossed
through the stencil and then used
one of the misters over for each one. I sure am interested in finding out exactly how you did them! I can't pick one as a favorite; I love them all!!

Wanda, your stencil cards are terrific! I think you used a "reverse" stencil on watercolor paper and used a spray wash on top. I like the last card because of the colors and images you used.

i love the third one with the little child. I think you used a mask and then color wash sprays for this one? Kathy Eddy

They are all great!

Beautiful!!! My guess is that you inked up the stencil itself, perhaps with a brayer or sponge, and then applied the paper to it to create a print. This would produce the opposite of what a stencil usually makes.

??? A fun game, Wanda!

Wonderful Wanda! My guesses have already been guessed (lol), so I won't duplicate. Great work!

My favourite is the first one with the hearts. Did you stamp the stencil with versamark, emboss with clear embossing, then watercolour over top, then removed the embossing with a hot iron?

Wanda,
I love the tree, too! I don't know how you did it. I was torn between the tree and the little girl but decided the tree is so original looking, so different! I'm guessing you might have used some watercolor wash on it, or maybe a brayer and spritzer but I have no idea. Such beautiful work!
