My First Moo Card

The challenge this week at Created Byhand is to make a blue moo which finally got me to make my first moo... it was fun!!!! I started with white cardstock and stamped the flourish (Quietfire Design) down both edges with Versamark ink. Next I used a cotton ball to rub chalk over the paper which colors the paper and colors the Versamark ink even darker. I then stamped again being sure it wasn't lining up with the first stamping and rubbed again with another color of chalk. The dress on the girl (Quietfire Design) was colored with Portfolio water soluble oil pastels and blended with a damp paint brush. The words were written and cut out. Added the lace, punched flowers, and gem flower sticker. The chalks and oil pastels are available from Quietfire Design.

Butterfly Kisses

Flocked papers, ribbon, and lace are all doodlebug designs. The butterfly is done with chalks and embossing paste using a Dreamweaver butterfly stencil (I got the stencil from Quietfire Design). After the butterfly was dry I tore it out and the piercing was done using the Tim Holtz ruler and a piercing tool. The pick layer of flocked paper is edged with Krylon gold. Words are computer generated. Paper flowers and a large gold brad.

Arch - Memories

Every week PID has a challenge and this was done for their Gothic Arch challenge. I cut the arch shape from watercolor paper. Along the left side I used a Dreamweaver stencil (I got mine from Quietfire Design) and embossing paste for the design.. let that dry and then sprayed the whole piece with Glimmer Mists golden terracotta, candy apple red, and black cherry.. used the heat tool to dry it and then rubbed Brilliance gold ink across the raised design. Stamped the right side with an Inkadinkado stamp and sepia ink. Sarah (collage image from PID) was cut out and glued on. Sprayed a scrap piece of paper with golden terracotta, dried it, stamped Memories (QF) with black ink, tore it out, layered it on and added the flowers.

Tranquillity ATC

The background of this atc is done with alcohol inks. Added the wide lace and then the collage image (Quietfire Design). Stamped tranquillity (Quietfire Design) onto green cardstock with Brilliance moonlight white, tore along the top, glued to atc and trimmed even with the sides and bottom. Added gold butterfly charm with Glossy Accents.

5" x 5" Canvas

I really enjoyed making this canvas!! I began with crumpled white tissue paper and glued it to the canvas (top and sides) with Golden fluid matte medium adding the medium under and over the tissue paper and let that dry. Next I painted it with Golden fluid acrylic black. After that was dry, white paint was added by scraping it on with a junk-mail plastic card and allowed to dry. Krylon gold paint pen was speckled onto the sides and along the bottom and right edge of the top using a blitzer. Glue the floral lace to the canvas wrapping it to the back. The die cut frame and collage image are both from PID. I cut the image and glued it to the back of the frame and then added it to the canvas. Butterfly charms and flowers were attached using Golden heavy gel medium.

4 x 4 Friday

This weeks challenge on 4x4 Friday is to use sprays. The background on here was done with Glimmer Mists... so image lots of shimmer as you look :-)) Stamped a flower from Inkadinkado first with Versamark and embossed with Ancient gold ep and then with Stazon ink teal and blazing red. Scripture was stamped with Versamark and embossed with detail white. Collage image girl is from Paper Imagery Designs. Bird is Maya Road microfelt and I added the eye with a Zig pen.

More Fun With Glimmer Mists

The first picture is a scan and the second a digital tipped to catch some of the glimmer. I used golden terracotta, sandy beach, and a little bit of iridescent gold glimmer mists... sprayed them on white cardstock, layed on plastic wrap being sure to have wrinkles in the plastic, let it dry completely and took off the plastic wrap. I gave the background wonderful texture and extra glitter was caught in the wrinkles. The ribbons are silk and started all white and I sprayed them with the same colors of glimmer mist. They don't have as much shimmer as the cardstock but you can see some irl. I stamped the quote with black ink, cut slits along the left, weaved in the ribbons, and sewed on the heart charms. I didn't add any extra adhesive to the hearts so they can swing back and forth. Corners are rounded and the whole atc edged with gold Krylon. All supplies available from Quietfire Design.

Glimmer Mists

Quietfire Design is now carrying some colors of Glimmer Mists and I got my bottles a few days ago. So far I like them alot. You really need to shake them up or roll the bottle between your hands to help mix it well. This is an atc I made. The first picture is a scan and the second done with the digital camera. I was trying to somehow capture the shimmer you get from these but it's really hard to do that. On white cardstock I dapped a couple of colors of VersaMagic ink giving it just some spots of color... I did not color the whole card. Then I sprayed it with Glimmer Mists sandy beach and golden terracotta and then also added just a bit of iridescent gold. Dried it all with my heat tool. Stamped the quote with Versafine onyx black. The key is gold and I pressed Stazon jet black on it and dried it with a heat tool. Next I took a piece of white silk ribbon, sprayed with Glimmer Mist golden terracotta, dried it with a heat tool, tied it onto the key, and glued it to the card. All supplies are available from Quietfire Design.

Winged Things

On the PID yahoo group we have weekly challenges and this weeks challenge is Winged Things. I made this A2 sized card for it. The background is a variety of VersaMagic inks onto watercolor paper and I also stamped a crackle image around the edges. The embossed paper slide mount (PID) is sprayed with Radiant Rain, dried with a heat tool, and then VersaMagic ink gently rubbed over it just to catch the embossed areas. "Bella" (PID) was sandwiched in the slide mount and it was attached to the card. The flourish is acrylic and colored with alcohol inks. The butterfly is from PID also, cut out and added as shown.

Another for CBC

The background of this atc is done with Posh sponges and then I stamped some flourish images (QF) over it. collage image (PID) torn out and edges inked. Colored the lace with VersaMagic ink and heat set. "Sweet" was done using a Justright Stamper and Vivid black ink.

CBC - Pastel Colors

Pastel colors is this weeks challenge at Created Byhand. For the background I used VersaMagic dewdrop inkpads dtp and then sprayed over the top with Glimmer Mist pearl... so in person the atc has a very nice shimmer to it. All stamping was done with VersaMagic ink. I also colored the white lace by rubbing a Versamagic pad across it and then heat setting.

Krylon Brights and a Party

Several weeks ago I was blessed to received the five new Krylon brights pens. These pens look just like the Krylon metallic paint pens but they are bright flourescent colors. They are so cool!!! Just like with the metallics you need to shake them well and they have the same type of tip as the metallics. I finally found some time to play with them a little and just grabbed an atc sized piece of white cardstock and started at the outside edge running around the piece and changing color each time. On white the colors are very bright. They also show up on black just not quite as bright as on a lighter color. To finish up the atc I added a clock transparency and collage image boy from Paper Imagery Designs. I outlined the boy with an Inkssential white pen. The words are computer generated and edged with a Brights pen.

CBC - Black, Grey, White

This weeks challenge on Created Byhand is to use the color black, grey, and white. For this atc I started with black cardstock and stamped the music image (QF) with Brilliance moonlight white. Next is a piece of printed paper. The letters are rub-ons. The white dots, both around the paper and on the letters, were make with the Inkssential white pen. Six flowers were punched from white cardstock and attached behind the circle punched collage image (QF).

Every week on the PID yahoo group we have a 'just for fun' challenge. This week the theme is floral and I made this atc. The background is printed black and white paper and I rubbed a yellow inkpad over it. Cut out and glued on the collage image (PID). Added gold heart brads and epoxy heart stickers to the bottom and a yellow flower with another heart sticker to the girl. The words are computer generated.

Catching Up and Exciting News

I've been quite behind on uploading art to my blog the past couple of weeks but am caught up now. I hope you enjoy seeing all of it and don't hesitate to leave me a comment if you'd like.

This ATC has been shared before but I'm sharing it again because it has won an award in an ATC exhibit at the Art Center in Ankeny, Iowa. More info available here. They got in about 300 atcs for the exhibit, gave out 5 awards and I got one with this atc. I am soooooo excited!!!! and just had to share :-)) Directions for this atc can be found here.

Tweet ATC

Background is gesso and ink on cardstock. Stamped flowers (Inkadinkado) with Stazon ink. Stamped bird image (Quietfire Design) with black ink stamped part of the branch more than once. Added fabric brads to bottom. Stamped letters to spell TWEET on a scrap of the background.

Take Time ATC

The background is patterned paper. I used Lyra watercolor crayons to add pink to the flower and also around the collage image after it was glued on. Take time is part of a rubber stamp cut out and layered to cardstock and then glued to atc. A flower charm and pink crystal were added to the center of the flower. Paper, stamp, crayons, and collage image are all from Quietfire Design.

More Inchies

In a package of Tim Holtz fragments there are some pieces that are 1" square... yay, fragment inchies :-) On Lovely and A Bad Day I used alcohol inks being sure to leave a lighter area where I would have the face showing. Then I added Glossy Accents to the side of the fragment that had the alcohol inks on it and layed it on the collage image (PID), let it dry and then trimmed the image to the size of the fragment. I added the embellishments and words to the top of the fragment. For the third one I put double sided tape (cut from a tape sheet) on the back of the fragment, cut out the image and stuck it to the tape so you would be looking at the image through the fragment, added fine glitter to the tape left showing, and then glued it to a light blue cardstock. Stamped snowflakes (might be hard to see) on the front with Stazon white opaque and added crystal stickers to the centers. In real life this one is not blurry at all but it just wouldn't scan well.

Listen Inchie

I know I've said it before but... Inchies are sooo much fun!!! I punched out part of a collage image (PID) using my 1" square punch, added ink around the edges, cut out the bird (PID), glued it on and drew around it with the Inkssential white pen. Listen is computer generated.

Reflection ATC

The background is alcohol inks, then the image was stamped with black ink and some thinned gesso sprayed over piece and wiped off of face. Words are computer generated.

Radiance ATC

I had in my stash an atc sized piece of cardstock with some modeling paste on it. I rubbed Adirondack ink all over it not thinking about the fact that it wouldn't really dry on the paste so then I took some matte medium and brushed over it and blotted some back up, let that dry and then used a Blitzer to add gold Krylon. Cut out the collage image (PID) and glued it on. Added the radiance embellishment and flowers.

ATC

I made this atc last week for the polka dot challenge on the PID yahoo group (link along right side of blog). The challenge was to make polka dots somehow to encircle the head of the PID image used. It was great to see all the different ways people accomplished this from just using a pen to using embellishements.
Again this background was in my stash. I used rub-ons along the left edge. The collage image and word Mia were cut out and added to the atc. Dots were made with the Inkssential white pen. Sunshine is a rub-on.
