Capture - Embrace the Journey

Hey!!  It's Friday!!! Which is almost as good as yesterday.  Why was yesterday so good?  Excellent question... because I was able to make a trip to Memory Bound and pick up the Distress Oxide inks that came in this week.  Woo-hoo!!!  It took very little time after I got home to remove all the wrapping, grab a tag (Distress Mixed Media Heavy), and begin to play!!  I use Broken China, Faded Jeans, and Wilted Violet to create my background.  I should have taken a picture to use here of the tag before doing everything else to it.  I did for Instagram and if you'd like you can see it HERE.

I also picked up a few other things including the new Wildflower dies and the Flourish embossing folder, both used for this tag.  The embossing folder was used at the bottom of the tag, embossing about 1 1/2 inches of the tag and inking the high spots once embossed.  I cut one of the wildflowers from both Distress Mixed Media Heavy card and black cardstock.  I used Oxides (Fossilized Amber, Peeled Paint) and a mini ink blending tool to color the one flower spraying with water and drying.  I layered the flowers together, off-set for a shadow.  I stamped the doily (Tim Holtz Doily stamp set) with Vintage Photo Oxide.  The Crinkle Ribbon was dipped in left over Oxide ink, crumpled and left to dry.  I didn't add much ink to the ribbon, just a little.  The other items are Idea-ology Baroque Frame, PhotoBooth image, Small Talk stickers, Chit Chat sticker.

The Distress Oxides are Beautiful!!!!  Jennifer McGuire did a post including a video about her play with the Oxides.  I was able to look at that and watch the video today.  I highly recommend checking it out!!!  You can find it HERE

This week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge the challenge is to use your favorite tool.  I don't necessarily have a "favorite" tool but I'm pretty sure that my "most used" tool is my heat gun which got used a lot while making this tag.  In fact I have both the Ranger Heat It and another Heat Gun plus I always have one still in the box in case what I have should die unexpectedly.  That's how important a heat tool is to me.  I once had one die with no back up... I did not like that!!!!  Anyway, I'm also entering this tag into their challenge!!

I watched the Jennifer McGuire video on these new inks and I must say I was impressed with them, and you have used them beautifully on this tag and the colour combination is fabulous Wanda. I love the stamped doilies and the picture in the frame, also the prettily coloured flower, and the ribbon you have coloured and the sentiments are just perfect finishing touches. x
