Welcome to the Quietfire Design's 2017 Queen of Hearts Blog Hop!

This week we're celebrating the release of the newest dies, stencils and stamps from Quietfire Design by sharing our best projects!

Here is our Blog Hop Schedule with the dates each designer will be posting (Click on each person's name to go to their blog):

Mon Feb 13 - Wanda (that's me!) and Connie
Tues Feb 14 - Robyn and Teresa
Wed Feb 15 - Kathy Jo and Diana

What would a celebration be without a giveaway!? Suzanne is giving away stamps, dies or stencils to random winners on each blog.

Make sure you leave a comment below before midnight Sunday February 19, 2017. A winner will be randomly chosen from my list of comments and the winner's name will be posted on Quietfire Creations shortly afterwards. Visit and leave comments on all the designers Queen of Hearts blog posts! You can go back if you've missed any of them.

I had fun making this card for the hop!!  I started with a piece of Distress Mixed Media Heavy Card (Ranger) 4 1/2" x 6 1/2".  I used the new stencil, Dotty, and Translucent Embossing Paste (Wendy Vecchi).  Before the paste dried completely, I sprayed over the piece with Distress Spray Stain Twisted Citron and Squeezed Lemonade and dabbed over the paste with a rough cloth creating additional texture.

After drying it, I then went in-between the paste dots using ink through the stencil.  I put the largest circles between the smallest dots and inked half the paper.  Then I flipped it around, lined up the largest dots again and inked the other half the paper.  Dried the ink and distressed the edges of the panel.

Next I sprayed on a misting of Mica Spray.  As we all know, this is very hard to catch in a photograph but hopefully, if you enlarge the picture, you can see it a bit.  It's lovely as the card tips and catches the light.

Moments was cut from green cardstock as was the larger circle (Dotted Scallop Circles).  All the cutting dies are from Elizabeth Craft Designs.   The quote  was stamped with Archival Ink Jet Black (Ranger) onto Mixed Media Heavy Card,  die cut and then the Butterfly Spray stenciled across it with Distress Ink Squeezed Lemonade.  I used a gold paint pen (Posca) right on top of the cut dots on the large circle.  This worked really well!!!  The Small Butterfly was cut from a scrap of the Mixed Media Heavy Stock, colored with Distress Inks and then Enamel Accents, Pink Gumball (Ranger) added along the body.  There were more pink dots added onto the card once everything was in place.  For the leaves (Leafy Branch cutting die) - some were cut from white cardstock and inked with Distress Ink Mowed Lawn; for the others, I glued a page from a hymnal to cardstock, cut the leafy branch from that and sprayed it with Distress Spray Stain Spun Sugar.  The leafy branches were cut into smaller pieces, leaf lines added with Susan's Garden leaf tool and leaf pad, and arranged as shown.

Wanda, you did again! So many different things about this that I have to incorporate into my work. The mica spray (love the shimmer on the bright yellows and greens) the music paper for the leaves/greenery ( I love that you didn't color them) and your butterfly is just too sweet. TFS your art with us.

Wanda, this is a wonderful card! I'm so glad you included your instructions as there were so many steps. I don't know if I would have noticed everything you did if I didn't have the steps to read. (I.e., I didn't even notice the yellow butterflies and they add so much to the card.) I love the multi-sized dots, the colors, the elegant calligraphy. Thanks for sharing.
