No act of kindness,

I really enjoyed making this card.  I started with no idea at all where I was going.  I grabbed a piece of thin white cardboard that probably came from some package who knows when.  I put gesso on it using a pallet knife even patting it up and down and also rubbing it around with the full intention of leaving a lot of texture.  I let that dry.  Next I used the butterfly stencil (heidi swapp) and grungepaste (PaperArtsy).  I let it dry and then sanded it a little to get off any rough spots.  I painted over the whole piece with Fresco Finish cheeseckae, dried it and added mermaid keeping to the outer areas mostly rubbing it with my fingers to bring out the texture more.  I decided that the butterflies should be in a flower garden so I grabbed the Wendy Vecchi stencil Create A Flower and several Ranger Archival Inks (cornflower blue, orange blossom, aquamarine, monarch orange, magenta hue, emerald green, saffron) and began stencil flowers using a stencil brush, not worrying about the butterflies but going right over them.  Dried the inks, put the butterfly stencil back on and painted them with Fresco Finish snowflake (an opaque paint so it covered up the inks).  To add color to the butterflies I used Fresco Finish paint - yellow submarine in the center areas, then tango and london bus at the outside of the wings.  After adding the london bus, I used a Catalyst brush (15mm #B-05) dragging the brush from the outside edge of the butterfly toward the center creating lovely marks.  This needs to be done as each butterfly is painted or the paint will get to dry.  To create shading around each butterfly (and to help them pop) I used a All Stabilo pencil, sharpened well so it was a small line, around the sides and bottom of the butterfly going over the pencil line with a waterbrush and used a grey Pitt pen around the top of the butterflies.  I used Pitt pens to darken the body of each butterfly and add antennas.  I added some tango paint around the edges of the piece with my finger and also some Treasure Gold renaissance.  The quote is a Quietfire Design image stamped with Archival Ink jet black.  It stamped pretty well over my texture gesso but there were a couple of small spots I helped along with a small Pitt pen.  The piece is layered on a folded red card.

I am entering this in the SimonSaysStamp Monday Challenge with the topic of stencil and paste.
