Your Word Card

The finished size of this card is 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". All the coloring on this card was done with alcohol inks. I used stream, sailboat blue, pearl mixative, and blending solution for the background. Then using the same piece of felt which had just a little color left on it, I added sandal to the felt and did another piece of cardstock for the lighthouse image. Both the lighthouse image and scripture (Our Daily Bread Designs) were stamped with Archival Ink jet black. I cut out the lighthouse with a Spellbinders oval die and embossed the edge. Also cut the scalloped oval (glossy white cardstock) with a Spellbinders die and then used pearl mixative and blending solution on it which worked great to give it a pearly look. After stamping the scripture on the background I used a Cuttlebug folder to emboss the folders by just putting the paper part-way in the folder. Also edged the background with a Silver Krylon pen.

Birthday Card

Here's that birthday card I mentioned I would be making using Tim's new technique. I have one picture tilted so you can see the Perfect Pearls in the background. The bird is a grungeboard shape coated with Crackle paints... after it was dry I added some ink to the belly/chest area. Created the circle tag and hung it from the bird by making a hole in the beak and tieing on the tag with a metallic thread. The for the flower I sponged Distress Inks on white cardstock and punched out the flowers. I was only going to add a couple but then just kept going and going but I quite like. I also used a punched flower and a sticky-back pearl for th eye. White "stitching" was done with the inkssential pen. "Happy Birthday" is an old DOTS stamp and all others are Tim Holtz stamps.

Distress Inks & Perfect Pearls

Tim Holtz has a new technique video on his blog here... and I just had to try it... very cool. I used some of the same stamps he did to make this atc. You can kind of see the perfect pearls on the atc and the ink bleeding out from under it.

Secrets ATC

Again I've used crackle paints and Distress inks for the background. I stamped over it with a flourish image (Quietfire Design) using Distress Ink aged mahogany. I had a punched shape (black cardstock) laying there and decided to cut it in half and add it to the background. I cut out the collage image (Quietfire Design) with a Spellbinders die and also the scalloped layer behind it. Rubbed a little aged mahogany ink on the lace, wrapped it around the atc and attached it with a trinket pin (Tim Holtz Ideology). I used a white paint dabber over the word "secrets" and rubbed off the extra to bring the word out more.

Desert ATC

The background on this atc is done with Distress inks and crackle paint. I was actually showing my son how he could make a hot sun on a card and one thing led to another. I thought it was very cool and then I had this stamp that was just perfect over it. Added a torn piece of muslin.

CBC - Pink & Green

This weeks challenge on Created Byhand is to use the colors pink and green. The printed paper that started this background was cut from the piece of paper that came in the current Take Ten magazine. I stamped and embossed the saying in black. Stamped the flourish in pink. Used a border punch on white cardstock, tore the opposite edge, rubbed the piece with pink VersaMagic ink and added it to the atc. Attached the metal and silk flowers together and adhered them to the atc with a glue dot. Punched the fern pieces from greencardstock and added those.

The background for this atc along with the stamping was left over from a swap I worked on... I had actually got the words crooked and through it aside. I grabbed it yesterday and trimmed it down so they were straight, sponged some ink on the edges and layered it to brown cardstock. Added the sticker and the embellishment. The embellishment is inspired by a project on Wendy Vecchi's blog Studio 490. For mine I did not have the new pens so I just dripped the alcohol ink on and moved it around with a Q-tip. I used meadow for the leaves and raisin for the flowers. All stamps are Tim Holtz. The clock sticker and embellishments are Tim Holtz Ideology.

Swimming By ATC

I've had this background laying around... it was done with some kind of sprays, I think some from Lindy's Stamp Gang. I stamped a fish scale image (Stamp Zia) over part of the atc with blue ink. The fish (Stamp Zia) was stamped with Archival Ink jet black and then colored using flourescent crayons in some areas and then sponging over with Distress Ink broken china. I also used the Inkssential white pen on the stomach area and circle of the eye and after it was dry used the clear Glaze pen over the whole eye. I sprayed a piece of cheesecloth with Glimmer Mists sandy beach and iridescent gold, dried it with a heat tool and attached it to the atc with gel medium and also attached the shells with gel medium.

Sail Away ATC

The background is alcohol inks.. the technique where you put the alcohol inks along with some blending solution on a craft sheet or plastic wrap and lay your glossy white cardstock in it. I stamped and embossed the ship in black, stamped the words with black ink, stamped just the water area of an image along the bottom with 3 different blue inks, and added the Tim Holtz Ideology journey embellishment first lightly rubbing white paint (paint dabber) over the raised part of the token. I finished it up by dabbing first the white dabber and then the silver around the edges of the atc.

5 Hearts ATC

Again I started with a white-core brown cardstock, embossed it with the Cuttlebug number folder, sanded off part of the brown using the Tim Holtz Ideology sanding block, and stamped a crackle image onto the card catching mostly just the embossed areas. I added a piece of sequin waste, punched 5 hearts from a red textured cardstock and added those, computer generated the words and added those and also added some fence at the bottom because I just had to use the new punch I got.

Butterfly 5 ATC

I started with a white core brown cardstock, embossed it with the numbers Cuttlebug embossing folder, sanded over part of it using the Tim Holtz ideology sanding block, stamped over the piece with a text image, and sponged some black ink around the edges. I layered on some lace and scrap of paper that was sprayed with Glimmer Mist and stamped with a music image. The butterfly (Cuttlebug) was cut, embossed, sprayed with Glimmer Mist, rubbed lightly with black ink, added to the atc adhering just the body area, and pearl sticky-back gems added to the body. To finish it off I added 5 flower brads along the left side.

Your Word ATC

I really like how this atc came out. For the background I used Glimmer Mist Sprays... I sprayed turquoise, meadow, and gold onto a piece of plastic wrap and then pressed white cardstock into it. Next I stamped the lighthouse image with Distress Ink broken china... the the words with Archival ink jet black. The lighthouse image didn't go all the way to the bottom of the atc and I wanted it to so I inked the lighthouse again, turned it around and stamped the bottom of the image in the open area at the bottom of the card and then also dabbed a little extra blue on the image using a pointy cotton swap to help blend everything... it worked great!!! Lastly for the "frame" I again used the lighthouse image inking the bottom with jet black and stamping it repeatedly around the edge. All stamps are from Our Daily Bread Designs.... specifically the set "Light of the World".

I'm published again in the June 2009 issue of Vamp Stamp News. I got my copy today and even read it cover to cover today... another fabulous issue with lots of great information about die cut/embossing machines and plenty of beautiful art using embossing. My card uses a stamp from Quietfire Design, Distress inks, cuttlebug embossing folders, and nestabilities.

4x4 Swap

I'm participating in a 4x4 Inspiration Swap on the Created Byhand yahoo group. The size of this is actually 4 x 4 1/2" to allow room for binding.

The background on the front started as white glossy cardstock, stamped the large flourish using Ranger's resist ink, rubbed on Distress inks broken china and peeled paint, and finished up by stamping the smaller flourish with broken china ink... dried it all using a heat tool. Stamped the quote on white cardstock with broken china, tore it out, and rubbed the edges with broken china. Cut the flower stem with my Cricut, add green chalk on the stem area, embossed the whole piece in the dots Cuttlebug folder and after attaching it to the 4x4 added Distress Stickles broken china to the centers. Add heart charm.

For the back I layed a piece of lacey plastic tablecloth over white cardstock and sprayed with Glimmer Mists blackcherry and turquoise. Stamped "inspire" with Ranger's Archival ink jet black, added paper flower and then a crystal gem to the center and finished up by adding my info. All stamps used on the front and the back are from Quietfire Design.

CBC - Postage

It's been a long time since I was able to participate in a challenge and I had a great time making this atc for the Created Byhand challenge - theme postage. The background is a paper towel that I used to blot up extra Glimmer Mist off a stencil while working on a swap. I glued it to an atc sized piece of white cardstock. Stamped the crow with Archival ink jet black and then went around the edge with a black Glaze pen, eye added with the Inkssential white pen. Art was stamped and embossed in white. Flowers, button and postage stamp added. Small harlequin border stamped around the edge. All stamps are from Quietfire Design.

ATC

Onto rust colored cardstock I stamped the flower image (Tim Holtz) using paint dabbers in white, pool, and gold. I actually did this as test stamping before working in one of the RR books and thought, I could cut this down and make an atc. The frame is grungeboard - I painted it with the copper dabber, let it dry, hammer it with the Tim Holtz texture hammer and then rubbed vintage photo ink on it. "LIVE" is from a Tim Holtz Visual Artistry stamp, stamped with Adirondack stream onto white cardstock, sponged with a little broken china ink and attached to the back of the frame. Added the piece to the atc with brads. The bird was punched from printed paper, sponged with broken china ink, eye and line along top done with the inkssential pen. Edges of atc sponged with vintage photo ink.

Butterfly atc

I liked the butterfly made with the calligraphic wings so much on the last card that I decided to use the medium and small wings to make this atc. Again the background is done with new colors of alcohol inks.... remember I did spend a couple of hours playing and making backgrounds, you're likely to see many of them over the next few weeks. The "butterfly" was stamped and embossed, body added with small green crystal gems, antennas drawn on with a fine tip pen. The word butterfly and the small flourish image around edge were all stamped with Archival ink black. "Wishes" was written with a fine tip pen.

Best Friends Butterfly Card

Happy Sunday!!!! Sundays are great!! First there is church which is always fantastic.. we are in the middle of a series on hearing God's voice... and then usually I can get some creative time in during the afternoon.

I finished this card that I started back on Thursday. The background once again uses some the new colors of alcohol inks. Next I stamped the large and medium calligraphic wings from Quietfire Design so that they made a butterfly using Versafine black ink and embossed it also with detail black ep. Next I used a Spellbinders circle nestibility and embossed a circle around the "butterfly"... this gave me a little texture and also a line to place the gold Peel-offs border stickers. For the body I used pink sticky-backed gems and drew in the antennas with a fine tip pen. I trimmed the whole piece into a square and rounded the corners. "best friends forever" was stamped on a scrap of the background, cut out, edged with a gold Krylon paint pen, attached to the butterfly piece and then added the gold brad. The whole thing was layered to a folded pink card made from Bazzill cardstock.

Now all I need to do is mail this off to one of my friends :-)
