Vintage 6" x 6" Page Swap

This is the front and back of the page I did for a Page Swap on the AllThingsTim Yahoo Group (that Tim would be Tim Holtz). The theme was vintage, the size 6" x 6", and you had to use something Tim related... product, technique, or even both... and we needed to make 20 pages. I started with 2 large sheets of Bristol board and to make the background for the fronts I sprayed the boards with Distress Inks mixed in mini mister bottles (old paper, tea dye, faded jeans, and maybe some corduroy - I should have wrote it down... oops) I also did some misting with water to help with blending and then while it was still wet I sprinkled on some walnut ink crystals. After they were dry I cut them up to get my 6x6 pages. At this point I wasn't totally pleased with how they looked and decided to add some scattered straw ink using the blending tool. I stamped the swirls on the backgrounds with Archival ink sepia and the words and bird with Archival ink jet black and finished by sponging a little black soot ink around the edges. The tag was stamped with jet black and color added with Distress inks using blending tools. The flowers were punched from grungepaper, colored with Distress Inks, and then sprayed with Perfect Pearls gold mixed in a mini mister bottle. The rickrack was sprayed with Distress Ink faded jeans. Embellishments are ribbon, a butterfly charm, a button, and Ideology snaps, washers, and brads. For the back I sponged the edges of the boards with Distress ink black soot, cut white cardstock 5 3/4" square, colored the white cardstock using the wrinkle free distress technique and distress ink broken china. The flowers were done using the Perfect Distress technique - fired brick and spiced marmalade inks and gold Perfect Pearls. The butterflies were stamped with fired brick. The edges were sponged with corduroy using the blending tool. My information is added using an Ideology journaling ticket. All the stamps I used are Tim Holtz images.

Life Life Fully Tag

I got my order today from Croppinsville that had the new Tim Holtz Ideology items in it and just had to make something that included the new film strip... way cool stuff!!!!! So I decided to make a tag, size 6 1/4" x 3 1/8" (#8 tag). All stamps used are Wendy Vecchi Studio 490. The background is Distress Inks spiced marmalade, fired brick, and brushed corduroy. After inking it up I flicked water on it, let it sit a bit and blotted it up. The top of the larger flower, the smaller flower, and the butterfly are all cut from grungepaper. Antenna are made from black craft wire.

Every Day is Special!!

No scraps used for this card :-)) All stamps are Studio 490. The background is white glossy paper, I stamped with Ranger resist ink and then colored with Distress Inks spiced marmalade, fired brick, and peeled paint. Other stamping done with Archival ink jet black. Butterfly is stamped on grungepaper and cut out, colored with spiced marmalade, Rock Candy stickles applied to the wings with my fingertip, white added to larger black dots with the Inkssential white pen after the stickles was dry. Chipboard frame placed over saying is Maya Road, colored with Distress inks, stamped with jet black and white dots added with Inkssential pen.

ATCs

Well, I'm still working at cleaning up my creating area and using up all the bits and parts from previous projects that I had left laying there... I could have just stuck them all in a drawer (like I've done in the past) but that drawer is pretty full and I decided it was either use them or toss them and there were too many good pieces to toss :-) Here are several atcs that I put together this past week, most of them made completely or at least partially with these left over pieces.

This first one uses part of a left over background stamped with Tim Holtz images. "Celebrate Today" is a Studio 490 stamp. The whole atc was dipped in hot beeswax and holeless gold beads added before the wax cooled.
The next one used a toilet paper casting I've had laying here a long time. I added brushed corduroy ink to the high spots and edges with my finger, then sprayed it with sunflower PP mixed in a mini mister, extra color added with chalks. The bird was a picture in some junk mail and I made a packing tape transfer with it.

The background on this atc is cut from a paper I had laying under where I was creating catching extra ink, paint, stamping. Stamps are Studio 490. The floral image is stamped on grungepaper, cut out, and Distress Stickles fired brick added.

A Tim Holtz image stamped on a tag with Archival ink, color added with Distress Ink... the tag was left over after working on a page swap and I cut it down to fit on an atc. I brushed over the definition with a Q-tip dipped in bleach .

Here we have another packing tape transfer. The saying is a Studio 490 stamp.

Here we have a gel medium transfer onto muslin. I cut her out using deckle edge scissors but it didn't really "cut", it more like frayed which worked very well. Added some brads, a word, and a heart epoxy sticker and then to finish it off added some Rock Candy stickles to two corners... awesome!!!

Paperbag Studios image stamped onto an alcohol ink background. Base is colored sprays sprayed through plastic canvas. "Celebrate Today" is Studio 490. Very glittery flowers.

The base is an old dictionary page colored with Distress inks and stamped along 2 edges. Main saying and dragonfly are Quietfire Design stamps.

Another Quietfire Design stamp. Background is Ecoline inks.

The heart is a toilet paper casting done on a rubber stamp. It's sprayed with sunflower gold PP mixed in a mini mister bottle. The background I can't remember exactly what was done... something put on a manila piece and then stamped into it. "Soar" from a dymo.

Grungeboard Leaf Pin

Not a great picture, I'll have to try to get a better one but wanted to share anyway. This leaf is cut from grungeboard, veins pressed in using a stylus and also my bone folder, and then it's painted with acrylic paints, let it dry and sprayed it with a sealer. Punched a small hole in it and added a bead along with a bead cap to simulate an acorn. This came out so awesome... it actually looks like it could be leather. My friend, Michelle, had actually seen something similar made from leather and wanted to try to make one like it... the grungeboard was perfect to use.

Studio 490 Style

I had mega fun making this wall hanging using my new Studio 490 stamps by Wendy Vecchi. The base is a Maya Road chipboard piece about 4 1/2" across. Inks used throughout are either Archival inks or Distress Inks. Leaves, flowers and butterfly are stamped on Grungepaper, cut out and colored with Distress Inks. The butterfly's antenna are made from wire as is the hanger. Ideology snaps used as centers on the smaller flowers and a button and ribbon used on the larger flower. Holes made in the chipboard using the Crop-a-dile.

Another Birthday Card

Here is another quick birthday card. "Happy Birthday" is a Quietfire Design stamp. All other stamps are Studio 490. The background image is stamped with Adirondack ink juniper. The flowers are embossed with Adirondack embossing powder wild plum. The butterfly is stamped on a scrap of white cardstock and also embossed with the wild plum, juniper ink sponged on, the butterfly cut out and only the body glued to the background so the wings can be up. Sponged some juniper around the edges and layered it to a folded card.

Birthday Card

Happy Saturday!!!! This is a quick card I made this morning for a friend whose birthday party our boys are invited to this afternoon. A few things he likes is music, playing the guitar and going to church so this is what I came up with. The background is alcohol inks brights. The guitar and music notes are I Brake For Stamps, the scripture is Our Daily Bread Designs.

Always Flowers ATC

I got my first Wendy Vecchi stamps this week and used some on this atc. I started with an alcohol ink background I had laying by my work area... stamped a grid background image on it... wrapped a piece of mesh (that was packaging on something my son bought and he actually had the nerve to throw it away -smile- but I saw it and rescued it)... the largest flower is stamped on white shrink plastic with Adirondack pigment ink cranberry, cut it out and shrank it... it's topped with some Ideology foliage... the other flowers and leaves are punched from grungepaper... the gold ones are colored with a paint Dabber, the leaves with Distress Ink, and the other flowers with the Adirondack pigment ink and then stamped with the grid image. The words are stamped on white cardstock with cranberry ink, cut out, and edged with Distress Ink. Lastly I dabbed around the edges with the gold paint dabber.

Felted Flower

I felt like felting a flower the other day :-)) And so of course had to make an atc. I used red wool for the background and felted the flower onto it. I then attached it to cardstock to make it a little stiffer. Added the Ideology token and used the gold paint Dabber lightly around the edges.

More Scraps

I've been using up more of the scraps and left over pieces from previous projects that were laying in my work area. All of these are ATCs.

This first one uses stamps from Stamp Zia. The flamingo is embossed with a pink glittery ep. The background is Zia sprays and stamping. I think this was a scrap of a larger background and I was testing to see what color I actually wanted to make the flamingo (this was a long time ago). I've layered the flamingo piece onto an alcohol ink background, edged the top and bottom with the silver Krylon, added brads, a metal/epoxy embellishment, paper flowers, and sticky back glittery gems in the centers of the flowers.

This house-shaped atc again has an alcohol ink background. I ran it through a Cuttlebug folder of small hearts and then lightly rubbed the Adirondack pigment white pad over it and dried it with a heat tool. Tore a piece of text from an old dictionary and glued it across. Added the center quote (Quietfire Design). Painted a cardstock flourish I had cut with the Cricut quite some time ago with the Adirondack gold paint dabber and added it along with a red paper flower. Made the gold dots in the flower and gold dashes around the edge with Smooch.

This last atc uses a scrap I had left after trying out Tim Holtz's Perfect Distress technique. Stamped the quote (Tim Holtz) on it, tore the edges, and layered it to a black atc blank. Colored the edges with a paint dabber. Added the flower and a dew drop in the center. Used Smooch to add some gold in the flower around the dew drop and to add dots to the two corners of the atc.

Enjoy What You Have ATC

I was cleaning up my working area and came across this atc sized piece of cardstock that was painted with Distress crackle paint and just had to do something with it. The paper with the words on it is from a Dove chocolate wrapper - also laying in my work area. The leaves ribbon I picked up in Davenport, also got some silver... cool stuff. I stamped a background image over the crackle paint with Distress Ink broken china and embossed it with clear ep. Glued on the leaves, torn out words, and small piece of German scrap that was also laying there. The flowers are punched from grungepaper, colored with broken china ink and stamped with various background images. Added the flowers and letter beads. Used the inkssential pen to add white "stitching" and dots.

Laminate Chip Hanging

This was a lot of fun to do. I decided to try Wendy Vecchi's pigment and pearls technique on a laminate chip that is about 3 1/2" x 5". It worked great. I used Adirondack pigment inks sail boat blue and bottle and sunflower perfect pearls in the spray bottle. Stamped the Tim Holtz quote image with Versafine black ink and embossed with black detail embossing powder. The flourishes were stamped with Archival ink jet black. Added gold speckles with a Krylon paint pen and blitzer. I put some Rock Candy crackle paint here and there, let it dry. Added a thin coat of Glossy Accents wherever there wasn't any crackle paint. Applied the gold mesh ribbon to the bottom with heavy gel medium. The rose is done with grungepaper and inked with Adirondack pigment inks. Attached rose and ideology leaves with heavy gel medium. Added Rock Candy Distress Stickles around the edges. Punched two holes in the top using the Cropadile to add chain link and jump rings (Ideology). Tied key (Ideology) to bottom with blue ribbon.

Classes in Davenport

I had a fabulous time this past weekend at Scrapaganza in Davenport, Iowa. A friend and I went over there and attended all three of Linda Cain's classes.

This first picture is a of Linda and me.... yep, I went curly this summer... needed something quick and easy since things were kind of crazy around here.


This next picture shows the two pins and slider box I did in the Ten Seconds Studio metal working class. Linda has amazing metal things on her blog... be sure and check them out. I've been interested in metal for awhile and have done a few simple things but had total fun at class learning how to use the molds and tools. I bought some supplies and am itching to get something done here at home.



This next picture is my finished book from the TransAtlantic class.... way cool!!

And finally my finished project from the collage class.... fabulous fun!!!! I love this sooo much!!

And this last picture is of the entire collage class, each of us holding our collages and Linda in the center front.

Linda is a wonderful teacher, a total sweetheart, and funny... I'd recommend her classes if you get the chance!!!!

Imagination Tag

Here's a tag I just finished today and it's inspired by a package of fun stuff that I won from Wendy on the new yahoo group EverythingWendyVecchi. The package included the new Rock Candy Crackle paint and the new Rock Candy Distress Stickles... woohoo!!! I started the tag with a technique that Wendy Vecchi recently posted on her blog called pigments and pearls and for that I used Adirondack pigment inks sail boat blue and bottle along with Perfect Pearls perfect gold mixed in a mini mister bottle. After the background was dry I coated the whole tag with Rock Candy crackle paint and let that dry, then around the edges I rubbed on Distress Ink peeled paint working it into the cracks and then wiping it off the top with a damp cloth. Stamped the quote (Tim Holtz) on with Archival ink jet black. Punched two flowers from grungepaper, colored them with Distress Ink broken china, sprayed them with the gold perfect pearls spray, added gold paint around the edges, layered them with some Ideology floral pieces and attached it to the tag. Then I put Rock Candy Distress Stickles on the petal of the top flower and made some swirls coming out from the flower with Peeled Paint Distress Stickles. Lastly I added some ribbon to the top attaching it using the mini attacher and added a trinket pin that says Ideas.

Time, the great equalizer

Our pastor has made the comment before that time is the great equalizer and it is so true. It doesn't matter who you are or your circumstances, everyone only has 24 hours in a day. The background of this ATC starts with and old calendar page glued to cardstock. Over it I sponged distress inks and used a Tim Holtz mask. All stamps are Tim Holtz. "the great equalizer" is computer generated. Ideology spinners added to the clock image. The edges have some gold Smooch on them and then are sponged with black soot distress ink. I also added some dots of gold Smooch around the clock. Lastly I rubbed some marmalade distress stickles in a couple of places.

A Birthday Card

A birthday card for a special friend... she loves birds and flowers and art. Background is wrinkle free distress and all stamping is with Distress Inks... also used a Tim Holtz mask along the top. Bird is grungeboard and Distress crackle paint on it... after it was dry I used inks to add detail to the belly area, a glittery gem for the eye. Happy Birthday stamped on a scrap of the background, punched out, edged with ink, and a hole punched so it can be hung from the birds beak. A hole was made in the beak with an awl. Most of the flowers are colored and stamped with Distress inks, and Ideology snap, a brad, some buttons, and some Distress stickles are used in the centers of the flowers. All stamps except for Happy Birthdya are Tim Holtz, the Happy Birthday is an old Close to My Heart stamp.

Book RR - My Pages in Betsy's Book

This shows the full spread I did in Betsy's book. Her theme was quotes. I used all TH stamps, crackle paint, distress inks, grungeboard, distress stickles, ideolody stuff... fun, fun, fun!!

Book RR - My pages in Brenda's Book

Here is the front and back of the page I did in Brenda's book. Her theme was nature and I had a lot of fun doing these pages. All stamps except the fish are Tim Holtz, the fish is a Stamp Zia image. The first page uses alcohol inks in the background inspired by an article in an older issue RubberStampMadness... first a light color of AI was brushed on and then drops of AIs added either right from the bottle or with a small paintbrush... very cool effect. The second page used Tim Holtz's perfect distress technique in the background.

Chunky Book Swap at PID

I made 10 of these pages for a chunky book swap on the PID yahoo group so, of course, the main image is from PID, after cutting it out I rubbed some Distress ink around the edges, old paper I think. The base is grungeboard and I sprayed it with Glimmer Mists, added some drywall mesh along the bottom, then the image, then the stamped quote (Stamp Camp) torn out and edged with old paper ink. Finished it up by adding flower soft along the bottom and some butterfly charms.

A Simple Card

I sent this card to my son while he was at camp last month. Pulled the background from my files... can't remember what technique was used on it. Scripture stamp is from Our Daily Bread Designs, used a border punch along the bottom, butterflies are punched and I added the dots with an Inkssential white pen.
