#10s

A couple of birthday tags!!  These tags are the large #10 (*Update... oops, they are #12 tags) Ranger tags, they measure 5 1/8" x 10 1/2".  

This first tag has layers of paint splashed with alcohol in the background.  The stamping in the background is done with Archival Ink and there are both Wendy Vecchi and Tim Holtz stamps used.  The pointing finger, birthday sentiment and stitch stamps are all Wendy Vecchi.  I have actually stitching around the edge of the tag.  Lots of Alterations die cuts and the little leaves are a Sizzix die.  On the dress form is Distress crackle paint - also on one of the spools.  The flowers have Distress acrylic paint on them.  

The second tag has Distress Paints in the background.  I did Tim's technique of putting the paints on the craft sheet, adding water and pressing and swirling the tag in the mix.  I also took some of the watery paint on my fingers and flicked it on - very cool!!!  After that all dry I used Wendy's paste and leaves stencil to add the leaves in the top left and let it dry.  I then added more of the same leaves stenciling them with Archival Ink.  Color added on to the paste.  The happy birthday around the edges is a Inkadinkado stamp.  Alterations dies for the birds, words, and car.  Pewter stain on the words, dried, and then some black soot Distress ink. Distress paint on the car and Pewter stain on the accents.  Snow cap pigment ink on the birds, dried, and then Distress ink.

A Designer of Dreams

A fun, bright card!!!!  All the stamps are Wendy Vecchi Studio 490.  The background is Distress Paints.  Tim marble technique where you put the paints on the craft sheet, spray with water, swipe your paper through the paint (I used Ranger's manila cardstock), and dry spraying on extra water as needed for more blending/swirling of color.  Next I laid on Wendy's polka dotty stencil and stamped through the circles Wendy's number background using Archival Ink monarch orange.  The current challenge on the EverythingWendyVecchi Yahoo group is to stamp through a stencil.  Next I stamped the flowers and the sentiment with Archival jet black.  I decided the sentiment needed to pop more so I stamped it again offset a little and embossed it with white powder (it's really more of an off-white, don't know what kind it is).  To give the background more variety I put the polka dotty stencil back on covering the numbers so the cirlces were off-set from before and sponged some white paint here and there and then I stamped Wendy's text image with Archival magenta hue just getting here and there with that.  I stamped part of the small weed image around the edge like a border and finally added doodling around the edge and in the flowers with a white pen.

My Portion

I had a great time making this card!!!  I've used Wendy Vecchi's brick stencil and acrylic paint for the background.  After the paint was dry I rubbed on Distress Ink for the color in-between the bricks.  The flower is one of Wendy's Art Parts - that would be two art parts as the flower and the stem/leaves are two different pieces - and the matching flower stamp.  I painted the flower art part, then stamped and embossed the flower image onto it  and finally added some white to the center with a Sharpie paint marker.  The stem/leaves are painted and then stamped with Wendy's speckled background image.  A piece of tissue tape tinted with paint.  The scripture is an Our Daily Bread Designs stamp.  The butterfly is metal with paint added to it.

A Woman....

A quick card for a wonderful lady.  Paper - DCWV Ciao Bella - for both the background and the piece stamped with the scripture (Our Daily Bread Designs). Spellbinders Labels Seventeen.  Distress ink for edging. Martha Stewart butterfly punch and couple sticky back pearls.

Peacock Feathers

The theme was Turquoise and/or Circles and these are the ATCs I made for a mail-in swap with my local group.  The background is Distress Paints.  The peacock feathers are embossing paste through The Crafter's Workshop JulieFei-Fan Balzer 6x6 stencil allowed to dry, Perfect Pearls brushed on and set with a couple spritzes of water, some shading on the center feather with a black pencil.  White dots done with a Sharpie paint marker.  An Idea-ology piece to finish it off.  

Serenity

Hello!!!!!!!!  I'm finally getting around to using one of Quietfire Design's stamp releases from last month.  You can see all three new stamps HERE.  

I started with a 'mop-up' paper I had...  I recently saw someone (so sorry I can't remember who) call a paper they had used to pick-up extra color off a craft sheet when working on a project a mop-up piece and I love the terminology.... and that is what most of my background is - a mop-up piece.  All the color (I know this because if I look at the back it started as a white piece of cardstock) is from mop-up,  mostly likely Dylusions sprays and also Perfect Pearl Sprays (I can see the Perfect Pearls when the paper is tipped).  All I added to the background is Dylusions white linen to soften the color a bit.  I sprayed it through a stencil, did not blot up the extra (this allowed it bleed out a bit) and dried it and then also sponged some around the edges and dried it.  I stamped the quote with Archival Ink jet black on a semi-gloss piece of white cardboard (I got a whole box of this cardboard at a garage sale a closing business was having... yay), dried it and die cut with Spellbinders Labels Seventeen.  Sprayed that piece with Dylusions fresh lime, blotted up the extra and dried it.  Applied Distress Ink pine needles around the edge using a blending tool.  Colored in the leaves with a Tombow marker.  The leafy vines are a Sizzix die, die cut from manila card, sprayed with Dylusions and water, dried and then I used a stylus to press a line down the center of each leaf.  The large flower is Tim Holtz Sizzix Alteration Tattered Florals die cut from manila card, sprayed with Perfect Pearls, dried and Distress Ink Victorian Velvet sponged around the edges.  The yellow flower started as This white flower then sprayed with Dylusions lemon zest and then Perfect Pearls Mist sunflower sparkle.  A letter brad added to the center.  

Grow - Be You

A journal page.  The background has sopped up sprays - I think Dylusions and Perfect Pearls - and then some yellow acrylic paint - I had too much on my craft sheet after a project and so just smeared some on with my finger.  The large flower and dots stencil is from the Stencil Girl March kit with acrylic paint, gel pen and Sharpie paint markers, regular and glitter.  Grow is die cut letters from grungepaper colored with Sharpie paint markers.  Be You is a Wendy Vecchi Studio 490 stamp stamped with Archival Ink jet black and white Sharpie used around it.

Paste over Dye Challenge

I haven't managed to play along with a challenge on the Everything Wendy Vecchi Yahoo Group in a long time so it's been extra nice to fit this one in.  The current challenge is to use Studio 490 embossing paste over paper that has been treated with inks/sprays and the challenge is inspired by THIS blog post on Britta Swiderski's blog.  

I sprayed a page in one of my journals with Dylusion sprays in bubblegum pink, funky fuchsia and cherry pie and dried it.  Next I used the Studio 490 heart stencil to add gold metallic paste and let it dry. Then I layed Wendy's brick stencil on and sprayed Dylusions white linen through it, moved it and resprayed so there were three areas of bricks, cleaned my stencil and dried the page.  I started using a Stabilo pencil for shading (bottom right side of heart) but then switched to chalk pastels and some glittery craft chalks.  Used another of Wendy's stencils to add the word Fragile with black embossing paste and let it dry.  Stamped the flourishes (Studio 490) along the bottom and in the upper left with Archival Ink jet black.  Stamped the flowers (Studio 490) along the bottom with jet black.  Added white doodling on flowers and black doodle lines on the borders where there wasn't any stamping.  Stamped the hanging hearts (a Dylusions stamp) with Distress Ink pumice stone.  Added brushed pewter Distress Stain splatters using the detail water brush and let it dry.  Finished it off by adding the white dots and doodles in along the border.  

ATCs

Some ATCs I made back in January that never made it to the blog.  

On this first one the tree is Tim Holtz Alterations movers and shapers tree cut from grunge, colored with Distress, embossing paste for snow with white opal Liquid Pearls on top sprinked with dry rock candy glitter.  More embossing paste along the bottom sprinkled with the rock candy.  

For these next two I took a piece a scrap of manila card that had been used to pick up excess color from a previous project, did some stamping, and added a white piece of ribbon to the center. The butterfly is sticky back canvas attached to Wendy Vecchi's Clearly For Art, Dylusions sprayed on, stamped with Archival Ink jet black, heated and shaped.  The words are part of a Dylusions stamp.

This card is an arch shaped ATC.  Dylusion sprays, Archival Inks for stamping in the background and on the cut out cross and to color the grass which is embossed using a folder from the Tim Holtz Alterations Springtime set, Distress Inks for edging the card, the cross and the punched out butterfly, Smooch for the gold dots around the edge, and Flower Soft for the flowers in the basket and dotted in the grass.  

Joy Tag

This is a tag that I included with Nancy's canvas. A #8 tag.  Distress Paints for the background.  Tim Holtz Sizzix die for the flowers, cut from watercolor paper, colored with Distress Paints and water, attached together with a brad, crumpled and white paint brushed on the edges.  Both the vine and leaves are Sizzix dies.  The white dots on the vine and background and white lines around the edge are done with a Sharpie paint marker.  The scripture stamp is from Our Daily Bread Designs.    

4x4 Mixed Media Canvas

I recently participated in a 4x4 canvas swap with a small group of friends.  This is the canvas I made and sent to Nancy.  I used acrylics, The Crafters Workshop stencils, and Studio 490 stamps on the canvas.  The white stenciled flower is outlined with a Sharpie paint marker.  The center of the flower is a couple dried drops of acrylic paint that were on my craft sheet - I thought they were cool and wanted to use them.  The white dots on the acrylic drops were made with the Sharpie marker.  Doodling done with a Pitt pen.  The flower and leaves are watercolor paper, Tim Holtz Sizzix dies, acrylic paint, stamped on with Wendy Vecchi Studio 490 dot and text stamps.  The stem is grunge.  The quote is also a Studio 490 stamp stamped with Archival Ink jet black on white cardstock, color added, cut out, edged and added to the canvas.

Using Your Words

I'm still plugging along with Carolyn Dube's Use Your Words Free Workshop.  This is from Lesson 3 - Random Letter Fun.  The full sheet of fun is the shared technique in this lesson and then I used a piece of it on the journal page below.  Also used on the journal page are Dylusion sprays around the edge; the lady is a Wendy Vecchi Studio 490 stamp, stamped and embossed with black onto a scrap piece of a Gelli plate print; the calligraphy quote is a Quietfire Design stamp; the leafy branch is a Sizzix die cut from watercolor paper and sprayed with Dylusions; at the bottom left of the lady is notebook paper waste sprayed with pink Dylusions. 

Masterpiece

A new page in my scripture journal!!!  I chose one of my Gelli prints, tore it to fit the page, and set it aside.  Around the edges of the page I sprayed Dylusions cut grass and dirty martini and dried it.  I laid on The Crafter's Workshop Balzer Designs 12x12 Punchinella stencil and sprayed Dylusions white linen, removed the stencil, blotted and dried the page.  Glued the gelli print to the center of the page.  Stenciled two flowers, Wendy Vecchi Studio 490 Fresh Flowers, with embossing paste.  Let it dry.  Laid the stencil back on and added paint.  Let it dry and added doodling with a Pitt pen.  Computer generated the scripture, cut it out and glued it to the page.  I am linking to Carolyn Dube's March Gelli Print Party. 

Use Your Words Workshop Lesson 2

 This page is based on Carolyn Dube's Use Your Words Workshop, the second lesson.  This is a free workshop, you have access for life, and you can sign up anytime.  The layout of the page is totally lesson, not my own .  When I started I was in the mood for some texture so I added crumpled tissue paper to my page first leaving an open area for writing my list.  The stenciled thanks isn't so crisp because of the texture, which was fine.  I didn't do so well keeping my spraying down in the right bottom corner and because of the overspray onto thanks I thought it faded just bit so I added the black outlines.  A while back I got a few colors of Viva Inka Gold and hadn't used any yet so took the color old gold and highlighted some of my texture which also gave me metallic highlights as the page moves in the light.

I don't have a very big selection of heavy bodied paints so had to mix for colors and after I was done stenciling I had this on my craft sheet and thought it looked pretty cool so took a pic....

and because why waste the paint I turned to another page in my journal, sprayed on some water, and then brushed the colors of paint over my page.  This will be fun to finish!!!!

I signed up for Carolyn Dube's Free online workshop titled Use Your Words and the first video was today. 

My page is similar to hers - I loved her orange and yellow color combo - I just added to it a bit.  The words were influence by an article I also read today found Here.  I had a lot of fun doing the "can't really read it and don't want to be able to" journaling - I hadn't done that before and it really was lots of Fun!!!!  I wish I hadn't put that drip of orange up in the corner but I'll live with it.

Quietfire Rubber Stamps - Valentine's Day/Love 2013 Set

Natural Cardstock

Distress Ink - spun sugar, worn lipstick, dusty concord, picked raspberry

1/16" hole punch

Sand one side of shrink plastic with a foam sanding block.  Stamp flourished heart w/rose twice using jet black onto plastic.  Dry ink from a distance with a heat tool being careful not to get too close or too hot as you don't want the plastic to shrink yet. Color rose and leaves with colored pencil.  Color the rest of the heart with chalk.  Cut out hearts, punch a 1/8" circle in each heart, and shrink according to directions.  If the hearts aren't laying flat after shrinking, place an acrylic block gently on top while they are still warm to straighten them.  Go around the edge of each heart with the silver Krylon, let dry.  Seal hearts - I used a spray sealer.  Assemble earrings.  

The card used to hand the earring on is natural cardstock cut to 2 1/8" x 3 1/2".  Stamp the flourished heart border image at the top and the bottom with jet black and add colored pencil.  Stamp the Flourished heart w/rose image in the center of the card with spun sugar.  Add spun sugar ink to the edges using the blending tool.  Cut two slits in the card and at the end of each slit punch a 1/16" hole.  Hang earrings on card. 

   

The folded card is from natural cardstock and edged with spun sugar.  The background piece is natural cardstock colored first with aged mahogany stain going back and forth in one direction, dried, then went back and forth in the other direction and dried.  Added worn lipstick around the edges with a blending tool and then just a little dusty concord with a blending tool.  Layed the flower part of the stencil along the edge and sponged on picked raspberry - repeated to do all four sides.  Dabbed picket fence stain along the bottom wide enough to stamp the flourished heart border, dried it, stamped the border image in the center and then filled in by stamping again to the right and to the left, and added color with colored pencils.  Decided I really liked how the picket fence lightened the background and added just a bit along the other edges.  Added some dots using the stencil and brushed pewter.  Edged the whole piece with silver. 

The library pocket is edged with spun sugar.  Stamp the flourished heart w/rose in the center with spun sugar and then again to the left and to the right.  Stamp Happy Valentine's Day with jet black. Assemble card as shown.
